Question about 2005 Ford F-150

1 Answer

Emission light My 2005 F150 began running extremely rough (missing) especially when loaded (up hill). The emissions light came on & wouldn't go off. When idling or in neutral the engine runs fine, it will rev up with all kinds of power. Its not the tranny...

I have no idea. I had to have it towed home. It was running fine, then out of no where it started missing & didn't have enough power to go up a small incline...

It was an emission light in the lower left of the dash

    Got the codes today on the 2005 F150 Emission light: P0171B, P0174B, P0191, P0300B, P305B, P0307, P2195, P2197

I am taking the truck in & have the fuel filter changed this AM. After the guy pulled the codes he cleared the machine & ran it again, this time he could not pull any codes, not one? The day before this incident I had just made a 450 mile round trip, no problems. Filled up with fuel to make another trip, got about 15 miles down the road & wham! Is it possible its just bad gas? As a rule, I get 22 MPG, one way on this trip it got 12. Being female, I just don't want to do "checkbook repairs" (guessing) I need it fixed. The Ford dealer here is absolutely no help, they had it almost two weeks & said they couldn't find anything wrong, while it was under warranty. Thanks so much for your help.

Mechanic shop I took the 2005 F150 to said my problem was a clogged fuel filter. Also, I didn't know this truck was supposed to have 7 quarts of oil.... Thanks for the help.

Map sensor. check your spark plugs, wires, etc. maybe a loose wire plug. did u mention check engine light, i wonder can you tell me what diagnostic code came up. go to ur nearest auto parts if u dont have a scanner. and pull them codes out.

P0191, that's what i am concern about your fuel pressure, of course that's P0171B, P0174B,P2195, P2197 lean fuel mixture. if you have a air leak at the intake that could be your problem. check for air leaks..... but i still thinking about your fuel pressure regulator performance. man if i had my hands on your truck god knows!!!!P2195, P2197 this means same as P0171B, P0174B. probable air leak, but because of P0191 meaning fuel pressure problem, your P0300B, P305B, P0307codes happen this mean engine dances.lol. no man it's a joke.... it means misfires.

I have a Holden Astra 2006 Wagon 1.8ltre. It was running rough so I replaced the coil pack. I have tried disconnecting the battery for half an hour but can't get emission light to go out. Any ideas?

Did the car run good after the coil was replaced?. Emission light will need resetting with a scan tool Providing there is nothing wrong with the emission set up being EGR valve, faulty solenoid or 02 sensor

Good place to start. Ignition module may be the cause too.

1989 f250 with a 351w ran fine with the check engine light on now it is off and it idles extremely rough and misses

Your check engine light only relates to your emission system. So your problem lies somewhere there. I would disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and allow any sensor to hopefully reset. Fords love sensors..and in 89 its probably carburated, with no computer. Hopefully the check engine light returns..if so get the codes read immediately by a OBG 1 scanner..then youll know where the fault is.

When hot seems like it lacks power and a miss .. when going down hills and level ground runs fine. long hills and gets warm seems almost like it misses

fuel pump may be going bad have pressure tested on vehicle when warm also egr valve may be going bad or has bad carbon build up lack of power a miss will give u a trouble code[check engine] as well as egr valve and other emission parts but fuel pump usually does not

Truck was running fine coming back from vacation

I would suggest going to Autozone and have them check for code or codes that might have occured, they will do it for free and diagnose what the problem might be. But anytime the check engine light comes on it has to do with your emission, possibly an oxygen sensor may have went bad, have them pull the codes and see what the prob is.

Emission light blinks and car runs rough

Mass air flow sensor is likely bad.

Any Mods been made to the car's engine?

Mass air flow Located in side the air intake box before the air hose. THat is in front of the car above the Turbo.

Or right above the air filter.

give me some more info...

Check emission light

Have you seen poor fuel economy? Does it run rough when warmed up? If so, chances are you have a bad oxygen sensor - it'll cause the car to run rich, which will hurt fuel mileage and cause rough running. You might also want to change the spark plugs - if they've been in there too long, they're probably covered in carbon and not firing as well as they should be, which will also cause issues with the smoothness of the engine.
