My 2002 jeep liberty automatic transmission ....

My jeep stalls out when it is first put in drive or reverse the rpm of the motor drops ,once the car is moving it shifts and drives fine. the car also stalls when you come to a stop. If you put in neutral before you stop it does not stall out. When you get ready to take of if you power brake it to get the rpm's up it's fine. The torque convertor was replaced no differance. The dealer came up with a po876 code and said it was still the convertor. Also it seems to work better after it is warmed up.

My automatic jeep liberty- 2009 -36,000 miles. it stalled about 2 minutes after i started driving. i pulled over and revved it a few times. it was fine after that. needless to say i'm concerned. i wonder if something crawled up there and got stuck or an air bubble blocked the flow or bad gas did it? obviously i don't know a thing about cars. i have been taken advantage of because of my lack of knowledge or motors- even though i only get work done by the dealer. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks-

Check the idle air valve and make sure it's clean. Other than that, if the dealer already charged you for a converter and you still have the same problem, in my opinion, they charged you for not repairing your vehicle! They have to guarantee their diagnosis as well as the repair! Check laws about this in your state and be informed before going back there!! Your DMV can often help you.

My 2002 jeep liberty wont keep the timing

always starts, always runs but stalls randomly, right?

is that a guess. on timing? what is the proof? a timing light?
this car has an ASD, it can drop for many reasons.
the best way to find this fast is to use that magic cheap tool called
a scan tool and OBD2 scan tool. It will tell you why ASD drops
in most cases, and if it dont,. tells you the other by process of elimination.
(still in rough draft) as is all there on jeeps.

scan it , and win, never work blind,

How do I fix a code P0733 on a 2002 Jeep Liberty?

IF YOUR VEHICLE IS A 3,7 4X4 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION,THEN THE CODE YOU HAVE IS 3RD GEAR RATION INCORRECT. THIS COULD BE BECAUSE YOU HAVE LOW TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL- IF YOU HAVE ONLY THIS CODE.- WHAT YOU DO: PUT THE CAR ON A CORRECT GROUND LEVEL,START THE ENGINE PUT THE GEAR BOX TO NEUTRAL POSITION ( NO PARK ) AND CHECK THE LEVEL OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID.SHOULD BE ON THE CORRECT LEVEL.IF IT NEEDS FLUID TOP IT UP WITH THE RECOMMENDED FLUID BY THE MANUFACTURER.CLEAR THE CODE EITHER BY USING A SCANNER OR DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. ( BE SURE IF YOU HAVE A RADIO WITH CODE ) THEN DRIVE IT TO SEE WHETHER THE CODE CONE OR NOT. GOOD LUCK.

2002 Jeep Liberty Sport with the 2.4L (manual Tran.) Speedometer stopped working, Check engine is on, and now it's stalling between shifting and at low rpm.

Speedometer cable may have broken. You can't tell from the outside of the cable, since it has a plastic shield. You have to disconnect it from the transmission to check it. If you can turn the cable inside the shield easily, it is broken.

Have a 2005 liberty 3.7 trying to install into a 2002 liberty but motor will not bolt up to trans. due to somthing on end of crank hitting converter? fixable problem?

If the engine was for a manual, there will be a pilot shaft bushing there. Not sure if removing it will help or not,the crank maybe different,if this is a used engine, you may have to get the converter from the other vehicle,if it was a automatic also.
