I changed the friction discs from the trany becasue the trany wouldnt go no were in all gears so after i replaced the friction disc and took it for a test drive in drive ive noticed that while i was driving it would not change gears and that the first gear meaning manual 1st it wouldnt go, like if i had the brake on but in manual 2 and drive and reverse works but no gear change happens so im going 45mph and my rpm are really high about 5500. thank you

Change your transmission filter: no or, very little movement and, no shifting indicates a clogged hydrolic circuit
do not continue to drive your car at that rpm until you fix this as engine damage can occur

My 98 ranger wont change gears.changed trany still the same

If this is a clutch then you need to look into the shift actuator is what I believe it is called. It is a located on your clutch pedal. If this is an automatic it still could be something similar to that.

1986 F350 6.9 automatic will not drive but goes into gears.

automatics do not change gears
the gears are constant mesh and the ratio changes ( gears) is achieved by bands and clutches
change the transmission oil , and have the bands and clutches adjusted

Does a 97 ford escort have a clutch in the automatic transmission?

Yes, many. The automatic transmission shifts through gears relatively similar to an manual transmission, except it does the work for you. Kind of like one of the auto shift 10 speed bicycles shifts as you reach the maximum speed for the gear it's in. As opposed to a regular 10 speed bicycle that has to be shifted manually with the lever.

My automatic transmission slips when shifting from

Either the fluid is low or you have a clogged trany filter or are starting to loose your transmition. If it is just low on fliud you will ruin your trany if you keep driving it with this condition.Check your fluid level with the engine running and if it is low fill it to the full line and test drive.

Transmission,gear shifting

Your blazer's transmission is controled by the ECM. You could have a bad speed sensor or wire harness. best thing to do is have your blazer scaned like at Auto Zone since they do it there for free and keep an eye on your transmission fluid. Don't want to burn out your trany.
Good luck and hope this helps. Ps you can alway try diconnecting your battery for a few seconds with your ignition key's on run postion.
