Question about 1985 Ford Thunderbird
They are powering a 12vdc motor. Purple is probably power in, then when you hit the switch, one of the other wires will show power one way, then the other will show power the other way. It just reverses polarity to move motor in different direction. If you have a test light poke one at a time, and see what light does, or use voltmeter.
One wire is power to motor in one switch position, then ground when switch in other position.
