My friend, I had an issues with my car not starting at all or starting just fine.

I joined a Saab forum named www.saabscene.com and those guys told me it may be the Crankshift position sensor. Now, I know nothing about cars.. So, I found one online for $30 (the sensor) and me and my dad put it on in about an hour.

A Crankshift position sensor basically replaced the distributor that we used to see on older cars. I'm not sure how my vendors use these but my Saab is a 2003 9-3 SE Convertible. The first year that GM took over SAAB. The parts are still made in Europe (engine, etc) but ultimately GM owns the name (or did)...

If you are getting the Crankshift Position Censor error then that is what it is. It's a relativily quick fix and cheap. You can do it yourself with no knowledge of engines, cars, etc.

Hope this helps.

If certain that car has no sensor then carry on with self preservation (plus, leads, filter and such) as the warning light does come on sometimes to tell you to service/ take to a garage to service.

I have a Saab 93 which is an ex fleet car, the service history shows 72000 mile service carried out by a Saab dealer, is it safe to assume the cam belt would have been changed during that service?

Check everything for condition since the service record is a copy and might have been faked. If the belt is new it will still have printed information visible on it. If it has a brown sheen to it and no sign of lettering it is likely to be old. Given the potential damage a broken belt can do to the engine I would change is out just to have peace of mind. At the same time replace the starter motor brushes (about £10) and the alternator voltage regulator with brushes (about £12); inexpensive preventative DIY measures that will provide a further 70k miles. Lastly check brake fluid and parking brake mechanism. Any hint that these have been neglected then renew and refurbish as they are not expensive.

How do i start my saab 93 2003 after battery change?

OK, first open the relay box that is next to the batt, then remove the yellow relay(pos# 3 from driver to bumper)(theres two yellow relays) then with a little piece of wire plug it in the horizontal slot and then in the vertical one that is right on from of it for 1 to 3 seconds into the car star. Make sure the key is in on position and Ebrake is on, if auto trans, put in Park, if Manual trans, put in Neutral, because you will jump the starter motor relay, and the engine will spin as soon as you plug in the wire.2_1_2013_7_53_36_am.jpg
