The gear seems stuck in first for a long time, then goes into second. Driving on expressway, have to push the gas pedal to keep it up to 55! Went through a quarter tank of gas on a 9 mile errand! 30,000 miles and 2 years left on Factory warrenty. They said fluid was black, and changed it and it might 'help' . Gears still not shifting right, and still have to push down hard on gas to accelerate and keep car at 55 on freeway. Is it transmission ? No lights on dashboard. Is it clogged engine?

It sounds like your input clutch seals are rolling. Is the check engine light on. It could also be the pressure control solenoid could be causing the problem aswell

Check the transmission fluid and see if it's low on fluid. If it is more than one pint low it could cause slippage, With that many miles if you have not done a transmission oil and filter change then you will need to do this first when they pull the pan they can tell if you need to overhaul the transmission. Hope this helps you. The cost for a transmission oil and filter change ranges from $150.00 to $200.00.

Start with replacing the fuel filter. When they clog up they will keep pressure but not flow.
