Timing gear, or timing belt, sometimes you find a plastic timing gear with broken teeth off of it, if you can believe that, sounds like a timing issue, sometimes you can take and move all the spark plugs wires on the distributor in a clockwise rotation, just move them around, keeping them in the same firing order, just advancing the spark without loosening the distributor, and see some improvement

1996 Chevy Astro V6 67K wont start when cold, needs engine starter fluid, ok when warmed up. Runs smooth. What is wrong?

I would say that the choke sensor (or whatever it is called) went bad & isn't telling the computer that it's cold & requires more fuel. Instead of starter fluid, did you try to push the foot feed 1 or 2 times?

Unfortunatly engine`s get addicted to easy start, the only way l have cured this problem is to completly strip out top end de-glaze cylinder bores, re-cut valve seats re-build with new head gasket set and never, ever use the stuff again!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe of some use....

94 gmc sierra 4.3 v6 manual, won't turn over, can hear fuel pump start when accessories turned on..won't fire, girl who needs help

The first thing I would check is fuel pressure. This type of fuel injection requires a minimum fuel pressure in order to operate. If fuel pressure is as little as one psi below minimum the vehicle will not start. You can try squirting a couple of shots of carb spray into the air snorkel while somebody cranks the engine over. If the engine starts and then dies you now you fpdeffinetely have a fuel issue. If the engine still won't start check for spark. Let me know what you find. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

Why won't car start when it's damp outside

Mor often than not this is caused buy bad secondary ignition. Most likely the plug wires. What you can do when the car does start is fill a spray bottle with soapy water. With the engine running systematically start spraying the plug wires. If you hear the snap of electricity arcing or the engine starts to run rough your on the right track. Also spray around the coil(s) it is possible for the towers to be leaking. If this is the case the coil(s) will also need to be replaced. I have 1992 Acura Legend v6 3.2L. If the outside temperature is 85+ the car won't start but when it is cooler outside it starts. What could be the problem and its solution?

It could be the coolant temperature sensor is reading wrong. You can verify this by having a live data scanner hooked up to see what it is actually reading.
