Could be anything really. check for oil in the water and vice versa, if so then it head gasket. also try the hot cold setting on the main air intake pipe.

You mean the car is running fine but just No Heat?
If so
-Sound like the heater hoses are plug. or the control valve is no function

-Check the heater control valve and flush the heater unit with water of garden hose from both directions.
Q: How do I know that is working or not?
A: Slide the heater control from Hot to cold or cold to hot and check it turn or not. (If not turn at all. The cable is broken or slip off)

Where is the thermastat located on a 89 ford tempo ?


After the car has been driven until warm,say 10 minutes,leave it
running and feel the hoses going thru the firewall to the heater,
there are 2 ,if they are both cold it needs a thermostat.
If one is hot and one is alot colder , it's the heater core.
If they are both hot it's a door on the inside.
Thermostat on the 2.3 (assuming) is at the engine end of the top
radiator hose,front of the head. Easy one

When the car is driven and motor gets hot the car shuts down but when it cools down it starts and runs fine again until it gets hot


IT is most likely the thermastat but i would not suggest driving it until it fixed as that could cause the head to crack witch costs around $213 - $250

I have a 1993 honda accord se, the machanic told me if he took the thermastat out that it will not run hot in the summertime, because it will allow cool water to flow but in the wintertime i should put it...


not true. the car needs to run at a certain temperature for it to run properly, not too cold, or not too hot. what the thermostat does, is it closes off the water circulation to your engine when it is cold. once your car reaches its normal operating temperature, which is a little less then halfway between the two lines in your temperature gage, it opens up allowing coolant to flow from your radiator to engine and back, and let the coolant cool the engine. if the thermostat is not there, during the winter time, especially in very cold climate, your car takes much longer to get to normal operating temperature, and causing it not to run as efficiently as it should for much longer, leading to more problems in the long run. i hope this helps, and dont remover your thermostat. if you are concerned about it, they only cost 15 dollars at autozone. goodluck.

Car running above normal tempature. It is at 222 and I replaced the thermastat.


when engine is hot very carefully undo the clip for the topmost hot pipe to vent any air trapped in system.

HOW TO CHANGE THERMOSTAT ON THE V-6


First make sure engine is cool.
-Put drain pan under car, coolant will run out.
-Remove the TOP radiator hose that runs to the metal thermastat housing. Coolant will now be running out, try and direct it to the drain pan below.
-Remove the thermastat housing, BEFORE removing the thermastat make sure you TAKE NOTE at how it is situated in the casting.
- Take the thermastat housing and run a wire brush on the flat spot were the old gasket material is.
-Both mating sides of the thermastat housing MUST BE PERFECTLY CLEAN. There can not be any old gasket material left.
-Insatll new thermastat.
-Put a very light amount of PERMATEX orange high temp. silicone on BOTH sides of the new gasket.
-Put a small amount on bolt threads also.
-Now install thermastat housing, and bolts.
-Tighten bolts down a little at a time, alternating between the two, unitl till they are tight.
-Install the radiator hose, and tighten hose clamp.
-Remove radiator cap, pour in coolant, until it sits just below the radiator cap neck. This may take a little time as the system has some air in it.
-Install the radiator cap. Make sure you radiator overflow tank is filled properly.
-Remove the drain pan, make SURE ALL the tools use used are secure, and out of the engine bay.
-Start engine, and place your heater control to 'HEAT"
-Let engine run until the top radiator hose is hot, which means you thermastat has opened.
-Keep watching the engine temp AT ALL TIMES, we wnat to make sure there is no air in the system.
-Inspect for any leaks. Now when the top radiator hose is hot make sure the hose clamp is tight.

Need to find heater core and hoses on 1992 acura vigor gs


On a Honda built vehicle, the suspect item is usually the heat valve. Look for two hoses about 1" in diameter going toward the passenger compartment from the engine. One of them will have a valve inline usually. Another possible problem is a bad water pump, however, that will also cause a car to run hotter than usual as well.
