Question about 2004 Chrysler Voyager

1 Answer

Chrysler Voyager 2.5CRD 2004. The battery has been running flat for about the last 12 months and my husband keeps taking it out and charging it up. I got it diagnostically checked and had to replace the clocks at a cost of £420.It worked fine for about a week but when I went out this morning it would not start again. Is this likely to be that the engine is knackered or what should I do? Many thanks

No, the alternator has been checked and there is no light under the bonnet - Cud it be just as simple as the battery being old?

If the battery is running down I would have the alternator checked and the battery checked I would also check and make sure no lights are staying on even the one under the hood .

  • Yes it could be the best way to find out is take and have it checked after it is charged up or you could charge it up and leave it unhooked for a day are 2 and see if it runs down and if it does you know it is the battery. I hope this helps .

I have 2005 Chrysler Voyager - battery flattens overnight, and will not start. I am doing short journeys which I guess does not help. Nearly new battery, charging system good, and nothing apparently using...

The battery will not discharge unless there is a drain. When the car is shut down disconnect the negative battery terminal. Put a DC ammeter between (in series) the battery negative terminal and the disconnected cable. The drain due to electric clock and immobiliser circuit will be in the order of 30mA (0.03 Amps). Remove each fuse in turn and note any drops in the current drawn. At some point you will encounter a fuse which when removed drops the current drain, it is this particular circuit that is primarily the cause of the battery discharging and it will need closer inspection to detect the fault within it. If you can leave this fuse out to prevent battery discharge.

Radio resetting

Your radio has what is called the keep alive memory, check the fuse, either that fuse is defective or a wire has a defective connection at the back of the radio. Fuse location will be in your owners manual under ROAD SIDE EMERGENCIES.
