My car transmission won't engage when I put it in any gear...... 03 mits galant

If automatic, could be toast, but at least remove trans pan and inspect filter, wiring and linkage. If stick shift, check linkage and clutch. Either trans could have broken u-joint in half shaft.

The Galant has 4 O2 sensors before the Cat. The trouble code says P0031 Front. Any way to determine which sensor needs to be replaced?

If your car has 4 O2 sensors I will assume it is the V-6 model. Code Po031 is bank one sensor one. Bank one is usually on the side with spark plug #1 and sensor one is the sensor closest to the engine.
You could clear the codes and disconnect that sensor and see if it sets the same code to make sure.

I have a mitsubishi galant 03 and I hhave two computer codes and need to know what they are so I can buy the part the codes are 0171 and 0134

P0134: O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected
P0171: System Too Lean
The O2 (oxigen) sensor has failed and because of that the ECM can't control the engine properly so the mixture is too lean. Replace the O2 sensor and check its wiring. The sensor is located on the exhaust line right before the catalyst converter.

My 2000 mitsubishi galant 2.4 liter will start and turn off within 3 seconds. Any ideas..... O2 sensor?????

It is not an O2 sensor. something is shutting down the spark or the fuel, i would exhaust all possibilities with fuel starvation first. have the fuel pressure tested before you go and replace the fuel pump.

It is not true that you have to replace the O2 sensors when you replace the catalytic converter. It is suggested, but not required. Most exhaust shops can test the catalytic converter for flow. before you spend the money to replace a part that does not need it.

2002 Mits Galant has a hard time to start

Your P0340 is a different problem from your P0303, but they may be related.

Since the code P0340 indicates that there is something wrong with your cam speed sensor, your misfiring in cyl3 may be caused by this.

This points to addressing the P0340 error before the P0303 since it could be contributing to the 303 in the first place. Look at your cam speed sensor in cyl3 and maybe this would solve both problems at once.

Hope this helps.
