I have a 1998 dodge ram 1500. when I go over bumps on the road and when I turn righ into a parking lot and go over a bump at the same time I hear a big thump in the rear end. What can this be?

I have a 1999 Chrysler Cirrus. My car is making a knocking or clunking noise when I make left hand turns, brake or accelerate quickly from being stopped at a red light etc. I just had the break pads replaced, rotors turned, the upper and lower ball joints replaced on both sides and the HUB assembly replaced on the left side. I still need the HUB assembly replaced on the right side, however the noise is definitely coming from the left side. My car is not driving any different. It is actually driving better and quieter since I had all the work done. The only issue is when I turn left, brake or accelerate quickly. I explained the noise when I got all the work done, and to no fail after all that money I still get the same knocking noise.

This problem usually occurs when your cv joints are wearing thin or depending wether it is a loud thumping noise could be your wishbone bushes which if so wil ned replacing.

garages are not usually very responsive towards these kind of probs due to the complexity of finding exact problem, because this kind of thing can be caused by a number of things mainly bushes and cv joints. if the noise is more pronounced when going over bumps than when turning right i would hazzard a guess at a combination of the two? do you bang the car up curbs and such because this is a very good reason for this kind of thing to happen. if not and you have recently purchased the car then maybe it had been in a prang and repaired to basic standards. if it is not affecting the steering/ breaking, then you shouldnt worry too much about it but try not banging up curbs or really straining round tight corners.

Sounds like the wheel is touching something when the nose goes down a bit. I had a similar problem and found it was the stone guard under the front fender

Knocking Noise from Front End Toyota Corolla 2004

Ensure the wheel nuts and Axle nuts are properly torqued to the specification. Lift up the front wheels, place supports under the car and do the following:
- Sit if front of right wheel, slightly move it right and left and feel any abnormal noise if coming out of it. If click-click or Tuck-Tuck sound is observed it could be due to the excessive play in the tie rod end, rack end, ball joint wheel bearing or U joint. Next hold the Tire with your one hand at the top and with other hand at the bottom. Shake the Tire inside out and feel any noise or play. If play is observed, it could be the worn out ball joint or the wheel bearing. Now hit the Tire at the top with rubber hammer and observe any rattling noise coming from near the center of the wheel. If you could listen to the extra noise it could be due to the dried up caliper pins. Grease the pins with graphite grease. If all is found fine, similarly check the left wheel and repair as necessary.

Suspension noise

If your turning pretty sharp its more than likely a cv joint.

Clicking noise in front end of car when going over bumps

Probably the front struts your sway bar links can cause the same noise if they are failing but you should have heard or felt somthing while turning regardless of bumps if the sway bar links were bad. Like the other people said start with the struts.

I have a 1990 canry and have a squek in the

hi, the most likely cause of the noise is going to be the bottom ball joint or the anti roll bar bushes if you only get the noise when going over pot holes or bumps then the chances are its the bottom ball joint but if the noise is their whilst on even road or slight bumps then this would point towards roll bar bushes, getting them replaced will stop the falling apart and giving you a banging noise
