Question about 2002 Volkswagen Passat
Here's the deal. After a normal errand ran this afternoon, we came in and had to run back out later the evening. When we got into the car, we noticed that the interior lights did not come on when we opened the car doors, but thought nothing more of it, thinking perhaps someone may had switched it off. (Children may have done it or so we thought). Then we tried to start it, you know in this vehicle you have to press the clutch all the way down. Nothing happens. The warning lights, seatbelt lights and all flashed on the panel, the driving lights even came on, the radio worked. We tried to roll start it, being a 5 speed and still nothing. We then tried to jump it off with our truck. Nothing still. Then I noticed that the button on the key would not even open the trunk or lock the doors. When I tried to open the gas tank, trunk, and unlock/lock the doors nothing happened. This has never happened before and we just had it in for an oil change on Thursday at a VW Dealership and they did not note any "concerns" on the print out. The battery is less than 2 years old, although I know it still could go bad. I just am baffled b/c some things works and others don't. Any help would be great, as it is sitting on the side of our street and we can not lock it. We would like to know atleast something before we call AAA to take it to the dealership. Thank you in advance.
It sounds like your computer went bad, somethings do not go to the computer like the radio and lights but all the sensors, ignition system, and locks witch im going to guess that you have a car alarm. if not even thow the computer tells all the locks to lock with one push of a button. you would have to take it to a garage theres a chip that has to be removed and put in the other inless the chip is the promblom but unlikely
