Look at your brake light switch attached to the upper end of your brake pedal. When the brakes are released your switch should be engaged. I would remove it and check it with a meter to make sure its working normally.

My check engine light on my 1995 Toyota Paseo keeps coming on and I really do not know why, nor do I know of a place that can check it for free just to see why. Why is that??

There may be an error active being detected by the computer. Some shops like autozone lets you borrow their scanners for free. You need to get the error to accurately diagnose the problem.

1992 PASEO, HEADLITES AND RUNNING LITES STAY ON WITH IGNITION TURNED OFF...

Censor issue maybe. My brake lights did the same thing. I just readjusted the lining... around the trunk latch. And learned to pump my brakes after I turned the engine off. It finally worked itself out.

How to replace a thermostat on a 95 toyota paseo

Follow the top radiator hose to the engine, you will find a ball shaped fitting with the hose stuck on it, the thermostat is in there, no need to remove the hose, take off the fitting, catch the coolant, the thermostat points in toward the engine, you will need a new gasket and thermostat. That is about it, put the fitting back on, bolt it up, pour the coolant back in, make sure it is clean, all set. Check it out, hope this helps.

1996 Toyota Paseo check engine light on

The Paseo is OBD2 (all '96 and up are, a few 95's of certain manufacturers are also, but generally anything 95 and older is OBD1). There are 2 possible locations, the one under the hood that you found, and another in the more typical driver side of steering column, below dash.
