Question about 1998 Cadillac DeVille
My good friend; i just happen to have a 97 eldorodo, i had a fan that would not come on, (the left ft. the right did come on as needed, as u may know these autos are very smart, they have so much protection built into them (pcm) that is . your temp sencer cluld be bad, lets back up a bit, i belive your auto still falls uder the O.B.D.II scan tool, this will tell u if u have a problem, or have had a problem in your autos system and give u a code u can have a auto parts supplyer give u,or u can buy a code refeance book, u can also pull all your codes up right on your dash board through the heat/cool system buttons, its a bit tricky but once u do it u will see how easey and great it is!,if u still have your owners manual it will give u step by step inst. on mine (running or not ) I push in the off button and at the same time push in the tempeture button that controls the tempeture on the passinger side (top part of button)and hold them both in,while holding them in look at your speedomiter part of the dash,as soon as u see all the idiot lites come on (this is to make sure all lites are working) let go of the buttons u held in,keeping your eyes on the dash u will see all the systems come up with any codes that are in trouble now or have had troble in the passed, try to right thes codes down ,present and past, u can go back and pull them up like u did at first any time and as many times as u like, just dont erace any thing till u have become more familuar with the process, try to pick up one fan at a junk yard ($20 + - ) unplug one of your fans at a time, try the new fan temparayly on each one, make sure all things are out of the way and start the engine and give the system a chance to activate it self, this is what i did and i got luckie, they are controled by relays, somtimes located right below the two fans.sure hope this helps and good luck, if u need any thing else plz ask .
