Question about 2001 Ford Windstar

1 Answer

Have 2001 Ford Windstar. Had back hatch open and backing down drive way. Corner of hatch hit edge of the house. The hatch was pushed up & in aprox. 2" so it now hangs at a slight angle and won't close. Can this be corrected without replacing the whole hatch door? The hinge on that side seems to be slightly pulled, but hardly noticable. When I pull down the hatch it comes all the way down, but the right side will not line up to the closure piece. The estimate to replace hatch, paint, etc. is over $2000. I just want the door to open & close. I don't want to replace door, paint, etc. Can you give me any ideas? Thanks!

Makes me wonder if it is just the hinge that is bent and maybe the body where it attaches to the van. At the same time I doubt some thing easy will do away with the $2k expense (sorry). Maybe an entire back hatch with hinges from salvage yard (make sure to get same color).

95 Ford Taurus wagon 3.0. bumped in the rear and car died immediatly. Cant find the enertia switch. Found some kind of black box inside the drivers side rear quarter panel, but it has no reset swetch.

The emergency shut-off, fuel reset, or inertia switch - all referring to the same thing - is typically located in the back right corner of the vehicle.

Sedan: Open trunk lid, look to right side near fuel filler port, pull back the trunk liner to expose the switch.

Wagon: Open hatch, look to right side near fuel filler port, open access panel.

Recessed into the top of the switch is a red button. If tripped, then push down until it resets, or clicks back into the on position.

Rear hatch door in ford windstar-mechanism came apart

My back hatch would not open but it appears the lock was sticking and the return spring to the handle is broken. We used the key to unlock the back door and then door opened. Then husband sprayed WD 40 in all the lock holes. Now once we open the door we have to push the handle back down as return spring is still missing but the door opens :) . My van is a 2002 Ford Windstar.

Replace brake light on my 2002 Honda Oddesey passenger side

Open the rear hatch and remove the two taillight mounting screws. These screws are located behind two plastic flaps that are flush fitting and part of the tail light housing. You will need a small flat blade screwdriver to put under the edge of the flap nearest the light. Pry gently (but persistently) and the flap will open to reveal the screw head underneath. (The hinge of the flap is on the side nearest the hatch opening.) Remove the screws with a phillips head screwdriver or an 8mm socket. Now comes the tricky part. Wiggle/pry the taillight housing as straight back as you can. Keep pulling/wiggling until the forward clip releases. Once it does you will be able to access the bulbs by rotating the bulb holders counterclockwise. Pull the bulb straight up out of its socket. Replace with the new bulb. Note how the forward spear point clip fits into its socket at the forward outboard edge of the housing. Fit the clip and push forward on the housing until you can hear the clip snap into place. Replace the screws and fold back the flaps. You're done.

Try lubing the latch mechanism, spray grease works best. Does it actuate when the hatch is open?
