Passenger window fallen down inside door frame.... VW Golf 2002

My passenger side window has fallen inside the door frame when my husband used my car. I have taken the panel off to find an enclosed metal cover with all the wiring etc. I have managed to take it off enough (but not all the way as not too sure how to do it) and have discovered two pieces of plastic in the bottom of the door. I think these belonged to the plastic piece that holds a wire which makes the window move up and down as well as hold the window in place.?? It looks like there should be two of these parts, one on each side and one of the peices looks like it snapped a long time ago.

I am confident enough to work out how to put them back on once I work out how to take metal panel off. I need to know what these parts are called and where I can get replacements...

The glass is currently pushed up so it looks closed and I have wedged something down the gap and hope it will stay up long enough for me to get the new peices.

A diagrame of the window workings would be helpful if you know where I can get one.

I am in the UK so please dont get confused with my email.

I look forward to your help..

You need to get a window regulator repair kit from a VW main dealer, they are about £30.....they always brake, the new part has metal clamps and is a far superior item....i would strongly recomend you take it to a dealer or specialist it is a fairly tricky job and not for the DIYer...it should cost you about 1 1/4 hours labour but it will save you some pain....cheers

Vw golf mk4 my rear passenger door willnot open with central locking key system. i can't even open it from the inside, pull the door handle and the lock pin rises but door won't open. i believ

This worked for me on 2008 Mk5 Golf, after the rear passenger door would not open fro outside or inside.

Hold the inside door latch open and keep it extended, then with the key fob open and close the door locks (still holding the inside latch open). Keep locking and unlocking the door, then it made a kluck and it released.

you will have to remove all the trim from inside of the door, remove the weather seal from behind the trim as well
if it has electric windows you will have to remove the winder as a unit from inside the door
remove any broken glass from inside the door, turn the replacement glass with the narrow end down and slide it down through the top opening where the window glass normally goes in the door
once it is inside the door turn it around so it is in its normal position and place it in the channels where the glass runs, connect the electric winder mechanism and replace everything in reverse order as you removed it
hope this helps

I have a golf tdi 5 door with remote central locking. i locked the car, and when i tried to open it later the passenger door remained locked and it still wount open do you have any ideas ??

There is a few things to check: First check to see that the wiring connection has not fallen off, check to see that the rod has not fallen off. If needed check power to wiring with voltmeter and check relay with ohmmeter.

You will need to remove all the screws to the door panel, remove lock and window controls, and then pry panel with big flat-head screwdriver directly next to the plastic studs and pry panel off. Don't forget about screw and plate next to mirror. Then you will have access to the inside off door and the components

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

VW Polo 2001 - Electric Windows wont open from Drivers side..

I removed all 3 switches from driver and passenger door, which is really easy with a flat head screw driver. took them completely apart, very carefully, with a small screwdriver out of a christmas cracker. put them back together again and 2 switches started working, so I put 1 in the drivers side and 1 in the passengers side so now my drivers door window opens and I lean over to open the passenger door. cool, no money spent...yet ;o)

Passenger side window (VW Golf mark 4-1999)

Hello, I'll try guiding you through a possible remidy. Is there a round plastic dot or a cover behind the door opener/pull catch you may have to carefully prise it off to reveal a screw. the door handle has hidden screws too? usually one at the top (Possibly hidden again behind blank cover) look under the arm rest of the handle there maybe 1 or 2 hiding. Have you a rod that goes up and down when door is open or closed? if so unscrew/twist the plastic shaft that goes down behind the door card.
The card itself has push in hidden plastic clips all the way around its circumference/outside edge, these are fragile you'll need to prise the card away gently, if you break a few they're easily available eBay for pennies. Hopefully that should get you almost there but be sure to keep looking for mysterious hidden screws on the way through.
Good Luck and A Merry Christmas.
