Question about 1992 Isuzu Pickup
How does the bolt pattern follow for tightening the head gasket down. And what do i set the torque wrench at. thanks alot -Eric

joyce, there are different specs for sohc and dohc engines. my advice is to get a Haynes manual from the auto parts store.

This is not necessarily specific for your car but as a general rule of thumb, if you start in the middle of the head and work your way out, torque down to 30 ft/lb first and then a quarter of a turn on second pass. Specific instructions often come with a new head gasket.

stage 1 = 29Nm(21 lb ft/3.0 kg-m)
final = 64Nm(47 lb ft/6.5kg-m)
do not reuse head bolts or apply any lubricant to the bolts. Do up bolts in following order for each head.
6 1 3 7
5 2 4 8

you should use a torque wrench but if you tighten them by hand make sure that you pull them down reasonably tight and check them a few days later as they may need to be retightened
