My Daewoo quit going down the road twice. Also would not start after being run. The mechanic has tried, replacing the value cover, computer, and spark plugs and wiring? Has anyone else had this problem?

I have a similar issue. When I try starting my 2000 Leganza, with 120k miles, the starter seems to just spin. The engine does not turn over only sounds like the starter is not engaging.
    Any local knowledge out there...starter?

That is not normal. I believe they meant the starter motor had locked up, and not the engine of the vehicle. Try getting a wrench on the nut on the vibration dampener (the bottom pulley on the engine that goes on the end of the crankshaft) and turn it about a quarter turn in the opposite direction from the engine rotation. This should free the starter gear from the flywheel. Taking out the spark plugs should make this a little easier since it will let the compression off of the cylinders. Once you get it free, take the starter off and examine the gear and the teeth on the flywheel pulley. There should not be any excessive wear on either.

2005 honda civic replaced starter .it started right up for a couple of days now just cranks and won't start?

Tapping the starter is just a test, then you replace it as you did

So the starter issue is resolved

No check to see if you have fuel pressure at the motor
when you cycle the key

Also check for spark or injector pulse when cranking

If you have a relay for starter switch it with a similar one

You will probably find this problem intermittent.
Check connection and security of the Main Power cable between the Battery and the Starter Motor,
a Good Ground on the stater motor, and the same on the Starter Solenoid connection wire that originates on the Key start and runs thro' the Starter Relay in the Main Fuse/Power contol box.
After doing all of this the problem still persists, Take off the Starter Motor and have it tested at Autozone, or Checker Auto, FOC, and they will advise.
If Starter has reached its sell by date, then you only have to install the new Warrantied unit.

I have a 2004 hyundai accent. the starter went bad two weeks ago, and a friend and I replaced it. (it wnt without warning ) The other day, it went again. I'm told it could be in the ignition. That it's not...

if this starter "went bad" by refusing to work (run)
replace your ignition switch: it's behind the ignition lock on the steering column.
ignitions do not tell starters to do anything: the ignition switch key turns the starter on and, a spring returns the key to off when you release it turning the starter off.

2006 Hyundai Tiburon Question!

I live in Northern Ontario and I use my Tiburon as my 'winter beater'. Despite all of the problems with the car, mine starts reasonably well in very cold weather.

Getting your battery checked was a good start. The next step is to check your starter motor:

If the starter motor is failing, then it will just 'click' and not try to start the engine at all. Then, after a few attempts, the starter will suddenly work and start the engine just like normal. If this is the case, then get your starter replaced.

Car locked up on hghway , drove it mile afterIT satNOW IT CLICks

Its very possible its the engine..Try and roll engine over manually and see if it turns. You can also Check the fluids and see if they are all full.Another scenario cold be the trans lock up internally and stop the motor...The clicking sound is the starter trying to turn the motor over but can't.Good luck with your car and have a great day!!!
