Security system disengages fuel pump

My security system disengages the fuel pump if the engine doesn't start on the first try, causing me to wait 10 minutes until it resets. What can I do to prevent the security system from doing this?

There might be a problem if it wont start on the first try?, preventing the injectors from flooding the cylinders. I would not attempt to disengage this.

No battery problem either

My guess is that after it ran out of gas, the key was in the forward position for a while and you unknowingly interrupted the antitheft system. Try to reset it.

RELEARN PROCEDURE:
Turn the key on, with the engine OFF.
Try to start the engine, then release the key to ON, Engine will not start.
Watch the security telltale, after about 10 mins, it will turn OFF.
Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes. You must turn the ignition OFF for 30 seconds before attempting to start the vehicle after the 3 cycles. Then start the engine .

Put in a new fuel pump car still won't start has a security light on what do we do to get it started

If the Security Light is on but is not flashing, the security system is fine. If the security light is flashing then turn the ignition key to the run position (do not start). Wait over ten minutes and then try to start the engine. After the ten minutes you should notice that the light stopped flashing. If the engine starts then you do have a problem with the Passlock Security System.

Tried the normal reseting security system by the 10 min wait with key in ignition until security light turns off. Today car started up with no problem until I was on my way home and car staled. Security...

If the security system is acting up, and you had to try th 10 minute reset, this means that some part is failing. The system rarely gets confused, its normally a failing part. The 10 minute reset can get you by for a while, but eventually the bad part will fail entirely and leave you stranded. This link might help you out.

I lost all power in a 2005 Trailblazer. Called GM and they said to kick the key forward and wait 10 min, and this would reset it. It did but now the radio A/C door locks and windows don't work. What...

Do it three times in a row.

1. Perform a security system relearn.
2. Let the vehicle sit for more than 10 minutes with the key off.
3. Attempt to start the engine, leave the key in the run position monitoring the security system indicator.
4. After 10 minutes, the security indicator will change state.
5. Turn the key off and wait 10 seconds.
6. Attempt to start the engine. If the engine stalls, wait another 10 minutes with the key on.
7. After the second 10 minute timer has expired, turn the key off for 10 seconds.
8. Attempt to start the engine. If the engine stalls, wait another 10 minutes with the key on.
9. After the 3rd 10 minute timer has expired, shut the key off for 10 seconds.
10. The security system will relearn on the 4th starting attempt and the engine should start and run.

Programing a key fob

If this doesnt work, you may have a failure in your system. If the security light is on, and the reprogram doesnt work, you might want to look into bypassing that antitheft system.

Okay, so I just bought a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT, 6 Cyl. The car runs GREAT... locally... as soon as I hop on the interstate for a few minutes the engine stalls. I have to shift into neutral and pull on...

best thing to do is to hookup a fuel pressure gauge and monitor the fuel pump
then you would not change a good pump
odds that pump is failling are not that good

Wont start when i turn the key i get nothing

it could be your fuel pump, or your security system they usually lock them self up. The way to check the security system is to turn on your ignition till all the lights come on remember dont try to start it, once the key is on leave it on for 10 minutes after the 10 minutes are over turn the key off and wait three seconds and then try to start it if it starts good if not then your probably looking at a fuel pump. hope this helped.
