03 Taurus wiper problem

The front wiper on the drivers side does not stop at the edge of the windshield, it goes beyond the windshield and gets caught on the edge of the driver side of the car--once released, it gets behind the wiper on the passenger side. How do I re-establish the control limits on the wiper?

What I would suggest you do is the following:

1) Remove the driver side wiper (arm & blade).
2) Start the car and turn on the wipers.
3) When the passenger wiper is straight up and down .. turn off the car. This leaves the wiper in position.
4) Re-install the drivers side wiper and put it back on so its position is the same as the passenger - making them parallel

Start the car and test

Yea might be loose nut for wiper arm. Tighten nut and see if that's
problem. Unless stripped. Gl

One windshield wiper not working

Maybe the nut that hold the wiper to the linkage is either loose or stripped? The linkage itself is bad?

I think your wiper motor is fine because the passenger side works and uses the same motor to move the wipers.

2009 Touareg passenger side windshield wiper arm does not move but driver side does

sounds like the connecting rod between both wiper arms either broke or one of the keepers popped off under the connector for that arm..since the wiper system IS NOT designed to wisk snow off the window once accumulated, this can an does happen.. even seen motors get burned out doing this..cleaning the window first will save this issue and the equiptment. need to acess this arm<take off the vented peice below the windshield and everything should be visible there..repost findings

1998 olds silhouette mini van, passenger side wiper arm over extends off the wind shield when turned on. When this happens wipers seem to be running at maximum speed or beyond really hammering the stops....

when the wipers are off make sure the driver and passenger wipers are at same level on windshield
you can adjust them so they don't go off the edge or hit the bottom.
if they are hitting off the edge and hitting the bottom as well you need to check the linkage since it may be worn out.

on the drivers side under the dash on the firewall is a fuse panel. #23 5amp is the fuse for the wiper

wiper system. if you have a taurus station wagon #19 15amp is for the rear wiper.

under the hood on the drivers side front by the battery is a power distribution panel #28

1988 VW GTI 16 valve. How to fix and replace windshield wiper arm(not just blade). It rotates beyond wind shield.

Remove the wiper arm. Switch on the wipers for a 15 seconds or so then switch them off and allow the wiper motor to reach the "Park" position. Re-fit the wiper arm/blade so the blade sits an inch or 2 from the lower edge of the windscreen. Pour some water on the screen or use the screenwashers and try the wipers to see if they still travel beyond the edge of the screen. Small adjustments can be made by lowering the arm towards the bottom edge of the screen by a couple of splines on the shaft. If it still travels beyond the edge of the screen then you may need a replacement linkage as it could be worn. You may be able to buy the linkage only and use your existing motor-I know this is possible with the Sharan but not sure on your model/year.
