99 PSD AUTO-MANUAL CONVERSION KIT ?

DOES ANYONE MAKE A CONVERSION KIT TURNING A 99 POWERSTROKE WITH THE 4R100 AUTO TRANS INTO A ZF6 MANUAL ? MY AUTO TRANS. WENT OUT AND I WAS REALLY WANTING A MANUAL ANYWAY--- ALSO I CAN BUY A 93 7.3 WITH A MANUAL TRANS IN IT FOR 1,500 AND WAS WONDERING IF I COULD SWAP THE TRANS AND CLUTCH PEDAL ASSEMBLY FROM IT WITHOUT IT BEING A TOTAL RIGJOB. I OWNED A 94 7.3 AND WAS HAPPY WITH THE 5 SPD TRANS. IN IT, ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY PROBLEMS. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I have a 94 f350 2wd 460 auto how can i tell if i have a e4od, or a 4r100 tranny? and can a 2wd tranny be converted to a4wd tranny? thanks bob.


the E4Od does not have a bypass cooler line on the case. The 4R100 has the bypass cooler it is located on the passenger side if the trans. it goes from the rear cooler line follows the case to the front cooler line, and is attached with 7/8" banjo bolts. the bypass cooler was designed to keep the fluid in the transmission until it reached operating temp it "bypasses the cooler at the radiator until trans fluid needs to b cooled

well first things first with the truck in the on possition not running and E_brake set go under the truck and have some one put it through the gears an see if they are going to the rite possitions this may be just a strechedcabel or frayed shift cable.
If every thing seems to be in the rite possition then it may be time for a new trans. now if you never rebuilt one before it can be a pain and still run a feww hundred dollars plus you would want to replace the torque converter with it wich will cost a few hundred more. so my sugjestion would be to go online to www.car-part.com and find a local junk yard with a used one it will cost a few hundred dollars but its still cheaper than rebuilding one or getting a rebuilt one.
I work for a local junk yard in Buffalo,NY and with all the cash for clunker cars that we got in alot of them were explorers expiditions and navigators all around 2000-2004 so the cash for clunker program may have just saved you alot of money. .........Hope this helps

F350 6.0 Powerstroke won't start...acts like dead battery; clicks and rattles and hums...but it won't jump start! I hooked my 04 Camry to the driver's side battery - no joy. Tried the other side, same...


If you have a battery charger, throw them on charge overnight. No more than a 3amp trickle charge. If you can charge one battery, and you can jump the truck by hooking the other battery to jumper cables, then you have identified the problem as low/dead batteries.

And yes, PSD's make a lot of noise on start up. A difference you will notice between the cumming and the psd engine at startup is that the psd cranks longer. This is due to the fact that the fuel injectors on the psd are actuated by oil pressure. Welcome to the world of powerstrokes.

It would be cheaper to sell your auto and buy a manual. Besides the cost to buy the standard trans, flywheel and clutch you would have to purchase the linkage system for both the shifter and the clutch. It is not hard to go to an auto from a standard, but it is extremely hard to go from an auto to standard. I don't recommend the conversion unless you have lots of money, time and skill.

This comes from a former owner of trans shop of thirty years.

You will need a manual hub kit and a 'conversion kit', both available at your local auto parts store.

4R70W = 10 ftlbs
