Question about 1998 Jaguar XJ8L
The tail lights and side lights on my 1998 xj8 sport have stopped working - the headlights are fine, not sure if it's connected but several lights on the dash are also not working (clock, heater, etc) any help would be appreciated.
I have had this happen and it is rare, but I have had a filiment burn out in a two filment buld and short to the other filiment. It does happen and I think this might be your problem, the only way to find it is a visual inspection of each bulb. I am sure many people will think this is crazy, but I have had the exact same problem, I had the schematics, tested the circuits, etc. and them by accident found a stop/blinker 1157 bulb that had done this exact thing. I hope this helps you, check the bulbs in your headlights also.

This is a problewm I have been researching. On the 91 Loyale
there are two headlight relays. The relay for the left headlight
also controls the instrument lights and the running lights. If
the right relay is working and the left is not, the left headlight will
be dim because of a back electrical path through the high beam
indicator light on the dash, but the instrument and running lights will
be out. I have been trying to find out where Subaru put these
relays, but three Subaru service departments have been no help.
One dealer's service department told me to remove the large bezel
around the instrument panel. I did and the relays weren't
there. Lots of luck.

could be numerous causes, it is logging a code when the light comes on, have the codes pulled to direct you in the correct repair
