I have a 1992 geo tracker and I just changed the clutch cable with no problems.Today I went and backed out of my driveway and when I put it in first I heard a big thump and the tracker would not move.I can get the shift knob into every gear but when I depress the clutch,Half way I hear nothing but all the way in I hear grinding. The tracker starts eveytime but it just wont move.Is the clutch gone or could I have did something wrong when putting the new clutch cable in.Please be a cheap answer not an expensive one!!!Thx Paul

You didnt snap in the top end of cable into fork , above pedal.
the cable is a cheap china knock off and is useless ( common)
you did set the free play to 1/2 like it says in the book.

need help post back

Pedal hard to push in has new cluch

the cables is #1 top failure. and can damage car, or it can stick and cause a wreck
http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/clutch/clutch-on-kick.html

never run old cables here.
they fail inside, big time, where you will never see,
also if you keep it like this, the spins on the top of the clutch pedal
strip, (good luck finding that)
or fire wall cracks at the mount for cable.
or the pedal welds snap.
seen 100's on all tracker/kick forums.

Clutch is hard to push in,the cable is o.k. the cross shaft seems o.k. bushings under clutch peddle under dash o.k., but when hooked up to Bellhousing, cable creaks.

may be binding in the clutch fork or the clutch itself. if when the cable is free it moves easily the the problem is in the clutch area. hope this helps

No tension on clutch peddle

That sounds like it could be... I'm assuming the bearing slipped off of the fork, and that would give you this condition, see if you can look in through the rubber boot at the fork to see this.

Geo tracker wont shift after clutch and clutch cable replaced

this is common.
it is caused because NO ON ever changes the cable at 100k miles.
it then wears a groove inside the cable and jams where you cant see.
(got my car dirt cheap cuz no one could figure this out)

the next thing to happen (toss coin) is the fire wall cracks or the clutch pedal spline strips.
full story here,
http://www.kick-fix.com/tranny/clutch/clutch-on-kick.html

now you know the why , so now correct all the damaged caused by a $45 cable.

all parts are at suzuki , every single one.
