check the parking light fuse or taillight fuse to make sure it has not blown. replace it if it has blown and see if the lights work or if the fuse blows again. if it blows when you turn the lights on then you have a short circuit that needs repaired. if the fuses are good ,then most likely the headlight switch is bad not allowing the taillights or dash lights to work.

I have a 2000 Pontiac grand am GT , the lights in the instrument panel and radio went out. radio doesnt turn on check engine and all those other lights work just not the gas/speed/temp lights.

Hi!!
Make sure the DIMMER Switch on the left of the dashboard was not turned OFF inadvertently, it happens a lot while wiping the board clean, if OK, check the INST. LIGHTS 10A fuse located on the passenger side under dashboard.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa!!

What is the problem when the battery light comes on the dashboard

Either bad altenator or loose or corroded battery cables.
It means your battery is not charging or altenator is not providing enough power

All dashboard/ center console lights out.

Test the dash first. Put key in hold down trip reset botton. Turn the key to on but don't start. Release the trip botton. Should turn on all dash lights & check for codes in the odometer. If getting codes reply back.

Theft system is stuck on

disconnect your battery for six Min's and re attach the post clips. this will reset the alarm board function. if the problem persist, the theft system is failing and will unfortunately have to be replaced or deactivated.

under the dash board, up behind the brake pedal mounted on a bracket, is the brake switch, that might be bad.
