First off, you might need to actually
have your engine checked. However, if you know that the engine is in
good shape and you're still seeing that pesky check engine light in your
Jaguar XJ6, here's a cool trick for how to turn it off.
Remove the passenger's side dash liner.
Look for the round red connector with a single pink/red wire that is hanging free.
Turn on the ignition but do not start the car and then press the VCM button.
When the code displays, use a jumper wire to short the pink/red wire to ground for 3 seconds.
Turn the key off for 10 seconds and then turn it back on and check for any more stored codes.
If there are more use the same procedure to clear them.
this has to do with the engines ability to warm up and meter the fuel. either the thermostat is sticking or the coolant temp sensor is out of range. there are 2 of them at least, one for the guage and one for the pcm. if you find it is the t-stat sticking, replace with jaguar parts.
this is the most common error code, just means the one of the nods in fuel pump misfired, on every model other than the ones for usa market, after clearing the error code on vcm the check engine light would reset. for our cars its programmed to stay on. also get fail 17 fuel 17 same thing it will not effect the running of the car or its performance may run a little rich
if you use lp and loose power it is a problem with the lp regualter, this acts the same way as a fuel pressure regulater on a fuel injected vehicle. you need to have this replaced. please rate this thanks
