One of two things i can suggest. One being the battery is pretty dead that even a jump start won't work or the alternator may not be working.

I have a 1994 jeep grand cherokee and it always starts up, but sometimes it just shuts off randomly while I'm driving and after a few minutes of rest turns back on, the battery will still be worki

Install a new crank shaft sensor. I had the same problem with my wife's Jeep. It would run fine fore days at a time then quit. When the crank sensor goes out their is no spark or injection of fuel into the engine. This is a Hall Sensor. They can be intermittent, and affected bu heat. If your Jeep will not start, try freeing the sensor and see if it starts. Cold Freeze is used in electronics to test

94 wrangler 4.0 fuel pump wont turn on

If your check engine light does not illuminate when you turn the ignition on then your jeep ecu is in need of repair. The check engine light has to be on for the fuel pump to get power. Try leaving the ignition key in the on position for a few minutes to see if the check engine light does eventually come on and if the fuel pump starts to work then.

1993 jeep grand cherokee wont start till check engen light comes on

Your ecu computer is in need of repair. You have what is known as the Delayed Check Engine Light problem. There are a few components inside the ecu that are slowly failing and eventually will completely fail. The ignition has to be turned on, for a few minutes, and the jeep won't start until the check engine light eventually comes on. This is because the ecu feeds power to the fuel pump and injector relays and won't feed power until that light comes on. Have it repaired.

I have a 1994 Jeep Grande Cherokee, and it is difficult or will not start. When tested on the diagnostic computer, at times it shows as the jeeps computer is not working at all (is receiving no power),...

I believe your ecu is in need of repair. You have described the 'No Check Engine Light' problem exactly. If you look at your dash in the am, before you try cranking and it won't start, there is no check engine light when the ignition is turned on. The light does eventually come on, after a few minutes of leaving the ignition on, then the relays will click on and the jeep will start. Either have your ecu repaired or replaced.

Do you have an alarm on this? If you do, that is most likely the problem. There seems to be a problem with the alarms. You may want to have a new key made just in case. Sometimes the keys are magnetically charged and after time, it wears off.

Starting Problem with 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Assuming I understand your problem correctly, it sounds as if the car will only start once the check engine light comes on.  The check engine light is controlled by the PCM (powertrain control module; or computer) which is also responsible for basically all engine operations including fuel delivery, ignition, emissions, and so on.  If this light is not coming on, it means that the computer is not getting power.  If the computer is not getting power then it won't start.  The fact that you hear the relays click on when the light comes on is another indicator the the computer is not getting power as it also supplies power to the ASD (Automatic Shutdown Relay) which in turn supplies the power to the fuel and ignition systems.  Check the ASD relay located in the power distribution center, if it is the same relay number as another un-important system, then swap it out to see if that helps.  Make sure the plugs going into the computer are tight.  The delay in the power going to the PCM sounds like a stuck relay, have someone tap the relays when the light is off to see if comes on.  It is also possible that the PCM itself is failing.
