Gasing spark plugs out

Gased spark plugs out to the point the car will not start put new spark plugs in .two days they were gased out again.

You have a bad valve or piston allowing gas to flood your plugs out..

Do you have a clogged catalytic converter? No car will run if you cannot get rid of the exhaust gases. Can you make duty if someone plugs up your rear end? Capiche?

What is the standard to pass at your location?

You can Google exhaust gases & study what causes
the gases that were to HI & cause the vehicle to fail

Could be any number of things from a dirty air filter,dirty oil,
neglected ignition system,old failed exhaust converter,etc

You ALWAYS work on ALL Vehicles for a few days BEFORE
you go to inspection,then again, if they fail, using the exhaust
gases as your guide to resolving the area or system with the problem

What causes a backfire

Gases in the engine exploding at the wrong time, Ignition timing set wrong, misfire putting un-burnt fuel into the exhaust system, then ignited by hot gases. Most common fault, is an ignition cross fire, where a spark plug is fired at the wrong time, happened mostly with high tension plug leads breaking down in damp conditions and shorting across each other, causing the plug to ignite gases in the cylinder at the wrong time when a engine valve is open.

Still trouble with my 2001 Ford Windstar after replacing spark plugs and wires. It always starts instantly though still running a little rough. Sometimes the power doesn't kick right in to climb

I would suggest you run a compression check on this engine and also have the coolant recovery tank tested for the presence of combustion gases with a gas analyzer, any gases would indicate a leaking head gasket. Any engine cylinder that is lower than 5% of the highest reading cylinder in pounds per square inch has a problem like a scored cylinder or leaking intake or exhaust valve seat.

Hesitation on acceleration

Most common problem is a failed mass airflow sensor. Remove sensor and carefully inspect the sensor for debris building up on the diode. Another possibility is the egr valve may be partially stuck open. The upper intake manifold is made of plastic. The egr gases enter the intake just behind the throttle body inside the plastic intake. It is pretty common for the hot exhaust gases to burn through the plastic and possibly cause coolant to enter combustion chambers. A restricted catalytic convertor from previous engine misfires will accelerate this due to exhaust gases having no place to escape.

When I start my 95 lhs and let it run for about 3 mins or so coolant will start to come out of the over flow. The coolant is only warm when this happens. I can put my finger in the coolant reservoir right...

sounds like you may have an internal head gasket leak into the combustion chamber and the compression gases are forcing the coolant out the overflow.if it was the thermostat it would take longer than the 3 mins you say before it does this.but compression gases at 150lbs or so in the cooling system takes far less time to cause this overflow and when you turn off the motor the gases are there over a longer period of time,because the cylinder is not going from compression to intake or power stroke as it would if it was can get the cooling system tested for combustion chamber gases.

Causes of a cylinder going bad

Check the HT lead to the plug. Check the spark plug condition and look at the colour around the spark gap. . Does the plug look fouled with oil (worn rings possibly) or conversely does it look as if it has been running lean (possibly a blocked injector). Have the cylinder pressure tested. Good pressures would also point to the injector in some way being at fault. Reduced pressure indicates either badly seating valves, worn rings or failed head gasket. Lack of any real pressure indicates a hole in the piston crown. Whilst the engine is running open the oil filler cap and look for rhythmic pumping of gases blowing out, these will be from the crank case as a result of combustion gases blowing past the piston rings. Most remedies at this point entail the head to be removed for internal inspection.

cookie2188 makes a good point, but you can rent a test kit from Autozone ($25.00 to rent the tester- you get it back upon return) that tests for combustion/emission gases in your coolant (it's called a Block Tester). You have to purchase the fluid for $8.99- it takes a small amount of test fluid to perform the test and the test fluid you purchase will allow you to perform multiple tests. Run your engine until it is on the high side of operating range and put the tester cone in place of your radiator (or recovery tank) cap. Put the aspirator (bulb) on top and squeeze slowly for two minutes. This pulls air from the coolant into the test fluid. If there are combustion/emissions gases present, the fluid will turn green or yellow (each brand will turn a different color but always green or yellow). If it turns a bluish green you've got some leakage of combustion gases in your cooling system and probably have a bad head gasket, but if it turns green or yellow you definately have a bad head gasket if not a cracked cylinder head or engine block. To narrow this down, unplug the spark plug wires for one head and redo the test- repeat by plugging in the first side and unplugging the next. This will tell you which head/gasket is the culprit.

Sounds like you have head gasket problems.

2 ways to test this out are,

1. Pressure test the cooling system up to 15 lb sq in, with a cooling system tester pump,
( Available at any good car parts store )
Remove your spark plugs, wait about 1 hr, then get someone to spin over the engine, and monitor for coolant blowing from the plug holes.
This will confirm cylinder head, or the gasket is leaking.

2. Cooling system carbon monoxide test.
( Tester available from any good car parts store.)
The engine is run to normal temp, the tester is filled with fluid, and put in the header tank opening, and the suction ball squeezed, causing the gases in the header tank to pass through the fluid.
If there are any exhaust gases (carbon monoxide) present the fluid changes color, once again
confirming cylinder head, or the gasket has failed.

The reason you sometimes can´t start are the coolant leaking into the cylinder, shorts out your plugs, and the increase in your coolant temperature is due to loss of coolant into the bores, and over pressurizing of the cooling system, and blowing your coolant out the overflow as you drive.

94' toyota 4runner rear differential seal

1st, check to see ifthe vent is plugged on the Differental????? This will make the oil to come out when the oil heats up amd makes gases & pressure. The gases & pressure has to go somewhere!!!! Did the person put a new Crush sleeve, to take the slack out of the pinion, which will makes to pinion move from side to side. Replacing it is no problem. Just time! Gear oil, Seal, Gasket, & Crush sleeve. Place everything on the ground in the order that you take it off. Also check upper & lower bearing & races to see if they need to be replaced. This will also make slack, which will mess up your seal, and star leaking again. Good luck,and take your time.
