Do you hear any buzzing from the gas tank with the key on ? Start with the fuses & relays then work your way to the pump. It might be but start with the easy stuff first.

If it was me I would check out the fuel pump relay first and then I would check the fuse for the sending unit and also here is a number of a place that sells only GM parts Schram auto and truck parts 1-800-292-1032

It is gas related because it started. Check the fuel pump, pump fuse, relay, or reset button. Check your fuel filter. Make sure your gas lines are good and check your fuel injectors. Your problem is with the fuel, so you shouldn't have to worry about anything else, just the fuel components. Your engine is not getting gas. Check all these things and you will find your problem.

My 2005 GMC does not have a fuel filter anywhere. Must be another great idea that an engineer came up with." we will tell them not having a filter cuts down on maintainence costs" As far as not having fuel to the engine, I would pull the line loose ane turn the key on to see if you have any fuel flow you might have to cycle the key several times as the pump will only run for 3 seconds with each key cycle, maybe a rubber line has collapsed on the inside, happens on brake lines all the time.

NOT GETTING ANY GAS TO ENGINE

It's either the fuel pump or your engine control unit. Try hot wiring the pump and see if it works. If it does you need a new brain.

The fuel pump should only run for 2 seconds after the ignition is turned on unless the vehicle starts. Have someone lean under the truck while you turn on the ignition, you only have 2 seconds to hear it then you have to turn the ignition off again for 15 seconds. It's not unusual at all for a pump to go bad after 9 years and I think that's your problem. How many miles on it?

Did you change your fuel filter? What about the air filter? You nay also have a bad plug wire. It may need a tune up. I do my own.
