further diagnostics. all the plugs check out ok. all the coils check out ok. all the injectors are getting pulse. #2 coil does not get pulse. what do you think? i dont have an electrical schematic. i think the comuter may be shot. does anyone have an idea?

  • bjs_natomas Feb 23, 2009

you are not getting it! compression has nothing to do with the problem. There is no pulse signal to the #2 coil. maybe i need to replace the muffler bearings?

If your title says 97 then your car is a 97. To answer your other question , don't take a chance jumping anything, you could fry your computer. Get hold of a scanner tool and use it to find your problem. Your computer will tell you the exact problem, which I am guesting is your crank shaft sensor. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

97 dodge Dakota cranks but will not start checked the fuel pumo n its good any ideas it keeps cranking but won't turn on

Fuel, spark and compression. Needs at least 30 psi to run at all, check for spark ,at the coil first. Pull the coil wire out so it has like a 1/4 of an inch gap from the coil ,either watch or listen for the spark,it's way hot ,60,000 volts or so,don't touch it,you can hear it or see it. If there is nothing, bad news ,could be the spendy control module.
If it is ok ,move on to the cap,do the same thing for any plug wire.if there is nothing,it's in the distrubitor,

No start. Cranks ok. No spark. check engine light "on" p0322 code

Could be the distributor speed sensor which tells the coils when to fire.

Probably the crank sensor, do you hear the fuel pump 'buzz' when you turn on the key (not cranking the engine, just key on)? If you do hear the fuel pump (only lasts about 2 seconds), it may be the ignition module, otherwise it is probably the crank sensor.

I have an audi 500sel 93 manual AAH Engine, no fire to the plugs, car refuses to start. checked computer box, 2 crank sensors, modulator, the coils all tested okay and fuel coming to injectors ok. timing...

We will star a list of what is good.and what controls spark
1. crank sensor .you done it
2.ignition control module. located on the center of bulkhead, behind intake air hose
3.coils. you tested it.
4.ECM located under passenger side foot well

ECM no you got fuel,so lets leave it out
cranksensor okay you replaced it
ICM ignition control moduel.
no spark you cover everthing. has to be a loose or no contact connection somewhere, you covered it all.you might want to tap on the ecm., or check the fuse for power to junction the ones in the hood area those can blow and not give power to ignition system

V6 hard to start.replaced coils sparkplugs . check relays and they check ok put new crank senser in still wont start. no dash lights work and there no fuel pressure on rail.and the motor cranks good and...

I think you've identified your own problem. In your description of the problem, you indicate "no fuel pressure on rail".....

First things first, try replacing the fuel filter. If this doesn't do the trick, make sure the fuel pump is actually pumping (you indicated that you hot wired it with a 12 volt DC supply and it ran). Running is one thing....pumping fuel another. To properly identify issue you need to know the cranking fuel pump pressure. If you can get it to start it would also be a very good idea to check out the fuel pressure regulator.

When you turn the key to the "ON" position (don't crank it, just to to the position where it would run) do you hear a few seconds worth of pump motor activity?

If it tried to start when you introduced fuel into the breather, then I think it's safe to say you have some sort of fuel delivery issue.

what u need to do is to check to see if u r getting the crank sensor to fire the coil on plug.if the coils are firing.if not it could be the crank sensor it self or the ecu.....arun.
