Question about 1997 Saturn SL
I noticed a red arrow pointing up coming on when driving my car. Did not get a owners manual with car. does anyone know what this means?
With a stick shift, the red arrow indicates it is (long over-due) time to shift to the next higher gear. I shift at about 1300-1400 (when the engine just starts to "pull") and get 39 to 42 mpg during the summer months, and 36-39 during winter. This is all - round driving.. not just highway. Just pretend your most sensitive body part is between your foot and the gas pedal, and you will be amazed the mileage these cars can get. You should be in 5th gear by 30 mph.. By the way, my car has the original clutch with 195000 miles on the clock. No brag, just fact.

Hello, I noticed you have a red arrow on you dash showing up. Your car is a manual shift transmission and the arrow is indicating a preset shift interval to help you save gas and performance quality. When the light comes on its telling you simply select another gear. Please rate my answer. Thank You
