Question about 1986 Dodge Aries 4 Door

1 Answer

Tail light problem

I have 1 bright & 3 dim turn/runing tail lights on an 86 Dodge Aries K car. The frist light on the drivers side is very bright the 2ed is dim and the passenger sd. are both dim. If I turn on the runing lights & Rt. turn the two lights alternate. I was told that it was a ground problem, but I changed the ground & it did not help. In fact the lights worked with no ground wire hooked up. Also only one filiment in 3 of the blubs light & both in the bright blub. Front lights work fine & rear side runing lights.
What can I check next??

Dim tail light.

Brake light switch under dash and actuated by the brake pedal lever is out of adjustment or faulty. Adjust or replace it and you'll have your brake lights back. The dim tail lights may just be that you have possible replaced them with the wrong bulbs or the ground to light housing is faulty.

1994 dodge dakota tail light + brake light wiring harness

Only with the head-lights on? What about with just parking lights? And I assume that means it doesn't do it unless the lights are on? My first guess would be either a bad ground at the left (drivers side) tail-light, or possibly a 1156-type, single-filament bulb being inadvertently placed in the socket that calls for a 1157 double-filament bulb. That may not be your problem, but what that does is makes a short from the tail-light power to the brake-light/turn-signal filament in that bulb.
One thing to do too is check the turn-signals to see if they work properly with and then without the lights on. Make sure it isn't the tail-light filament flashing. It may flash, but won't be as bright as the proper filament is.
I hope this begins to help, and I'll watch for a response.

park-run -tail
the most complex lights on car, huge number of lamps in side and outside. are ALL 20 dead ,side lamps. license, park, tail, dash , dash dim lights, ALL ?
check the fuses. first. always for ever and ever, check them first.
maked TAIL , even the front parks are run of TAIL. oddly.
parking lamps is the better term.
TAIL is 1929 word back when they had just 1 lamp... EEEEKKKSSS

I am having problems with the rear turn lights one not working and the other blinking very quickly. Some other sights have said that it is the Turn Signal Relay - the car is a 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5s and...

replace bulb make sure the front 1 works too will cause the indicator to blink fast,it is a bad bulb not relay when you replce bulb make sure you get the corect number most have 2 filament in bulb ,if you put a 1 filament bulb it will cause all kind of weird stuff like keeping your indicator on ,or your tail lights will be too bright on 1 side ,when you replace the dual filament bulb it as to be put on only one way ,if the wrong way it will cause the tail light to be bright and signal dim,the signal should be bight and tail lights dim,ive seen alot of people make that simple mistake including alot of mechanics, make sure you get the correct bulb number

99 neon running tail lights do not work but tail lights work when brakes are

what you are seeing is the bright filament on the bulb working,
the tail light bulbs have two filaments in each bulb, one is dim and one is bright, the bright one is to the brake and turn signals, that way when you step on the brake with the tail lights on the same lens light up brighter to warn drivers behind you..
you need to check the fuses in the car for tail lights first, see if your plate light is on that will tell you the bulbs are just blown

Boat traler lights dim when break is applied

Your turnsignal flasher needs to be replaced with a heavy duty flasher.
also, your boat trailor wiring harness is grounded incorrectly or the harness pig tail is wired incorrectly.
this is why when you excite your tail lights and brake lights that your reverse lights come on and the reason that the lights are dimmimg is because your circuits are looking for the correct ground.
