This is from a 97 civic should be the same. remove the door panel. remove 1 screw and pull handle, remove 1 screw and plastic cover over door opener handle. remove speaker cover and three screws underneath. remover window crank. then remove the door panel (held on with plastic plugs...just pull panel toward youself).

to remove the regulator ("window crank gears") Remove the glass held in with two 10mm bolts. The regulator itself is held in with six 10mm bolts. Remove these bolts and remove the regulator. (installation is reverse). Note: pay attention to the Idler arm track (highlighted in green) I think this one is directional (the front has to be at the front and the back has to be at the rear)

I have power windows in my 1987 Chrysler Fifth Avenue and I was just driving around town, rolled down my front driver's side window and now it won't roll back up. The rest of my windows roll up and down...

this happened to all four of my windows. the inside the door panel there is a gear for the window mechanism, this gear is only made of plastic so due to old age it gets brittle and then the teeth on the gear fall off. its not a big deal though just go to a auto window place...they fixed all four of mine

Driver side window will not roll up or down on my 1992 Corolla. have you ever had this problem and how did you fix it?

you should open the door panel and check if the rolling motor is trying to roll at all, if it is then the teeth for rolling up is weak else then check the fuse for the motor

Drivers side window (power) will go down about 4 inches then stops. I hear a grinding sound like gears not meshed. Wont go up unless I assist by hand. Passenger side window works fine

Replace the Track strip for the window. There is a track guide inside the door with teeth on it and you have lost a few of the teeth on that strip creating a bad spot. It is usually about $12 to $15 and a 30 minute job to replace. Once you get the door panel open it should be pretty obvious how to remove the old strip and install teh new one.

My 96 civic passenger side windows will not roll down but motors work

If you can hear the motor spinning and the window isn't going up or down the gears on the motor or regulator might be stripped. Some vehicles use plastic gears on the window motor making it quieter however more prone to problems like yours.

Driver Power Window Won't Go Up

The window regulator has gear teeth on it that connects to a metal track attached to the window glass. The teeth are most likely stripped and the grinding noise is the motor trying to mate to the broken teeth. You need to replace the window regulator and I wouldn't hesitate to replace the motor at the same time. It's a costly fix but worth it to only have to be inside the door once and the motor will have to be removed at the same time the regulator is replaced. If you can reach the glass and pull up on it at the same time you can probably get it to roll up as a temporary fix.
