Question about 1997 Dodge Dakota

1 Answer

Loss of power and won't go over 3000 rpms

Truck lossed power, and I noticed that in any gear it won't accelerate passed 3000 rpms. In nuetral it will but not with a load. Now it doesn't cut out or act sluggish really, it acts as if there's a rev limiter.
Any Ideas?

When driving my 1997 Audi A 4 1.8t there is a loss of power around 3000 rpm, what could be causing the issue?

run the fault codes and look for a problem area in the vane actuator of the turbo
it could be a sensor problem or a MAP sensor problem
this is indicated by the pressures being generated or not generated by a turbo generating pressure from the throttle opening on acceleration or held at constant speed

My 1997 Jimmy runs fine in idle when I take off the vechile is fine until it reaches 20 mph it won't accelerate and the rpms increase up to 3000 but no speed. What's wrong it's a 4 wheel d

Sounds like 2nd gear in the transmission is slipping. Cars usually shift at 15-20 mph from first to 2nd. First check the trans fluid.

I have 2000 hyundai sonata, 4cyl...bought 6 mos ago..i noticed the rpm's go all the way to 3 when on highway...and transmission delays to switch gears....will i have transmission problems. pleae tell me...

You may need to have your transmission serviced. That would be a filter and fluid change. Any fast lube place can do that for you. I should think that if there was a problem with the transmission, the check engine light would come on. 3000 rpms does seem a bit high for the highway. Of course, you did not say how fast you were going. My wife tends to have a heavy foot in our 07 Elantra. She keeps the rpms up there around 2500rpm. That's about 80mph. My sincere condolences for your loss. God Bless.

Loss of power on 1998 ford powerstroke 7.3 . pcm threw a p1211 code went to ford and got new icp. already replaced ipr. the hpop is full of oil. it idles all day and can hold 3000 rpms just fine but...

Generally the computer is reading a problem with the fuel pressure being to high or to low. The ICP is one problem it could be and you changed it. The other could be Fuel pressure regulator control solenoid or problems with the injector (s).
