You will not find an adjustment for this, it is a simple rod that connects from the handle to the latch/lock mechanism. It may have some wear on it so that it doesn't unlatch the mechanism. I have see them just not work from being dirty, you might try lubricating the latch/lock mechanism with a spray white lub or a penetrating lub.

What would cause the rear door latch to work correctly when unlocked, yet when locked to completly release the door so it can open on it's own?

Make sure that the striker plate is adjusted right. Most have an adjustment you can set. you may need a special wrench.

What would cause the rear door latch to work in unlock and disengage when locked?

Make sure the striker plate is adjusted right. That's the piece that the door latches on to on the door frame. It should have an adjustment. You may need a special wrench to loosen it and move it to a better position. I hope this helps.

1998 4x4 ford explore driver side door will not

There are long linkage rods from the inside handle to the latch assembly. There should be an adjustment on these links. Too tight keeps latch from locking, too loose it won't unlatch. Use a screw driver or rod to trip the latch asm so you don't have to keep opening and closing the door. Also if it sticks closed and won't unlatch, the door won't be locked closed on you.

I have a 1988 jaguar xj6 and the outside door handles dnt open

If you havent' already broken the door handles tugging on them, inside the door you will find a linkage with a tensioner adjustment. You need to tighten that linkage adjuster. You will find if you take off the inside door panel and pull the linkage manually the door retanier will actuate. The job is a PIA, and requires a couple of very long, very small box wrenches. Dont attempt to adjust the linkage without loosening the retaining nut, the linkage will shear right off, thus making the outer door handles permanently locked Good luck.

Drivers door latch wont work its frozen.all other doors open with remote except drivers door, have to use key and thats hard to turn with key.

It's probably the plastic rod that connects the handle to the lock, that needs to be adjusted or replaced

Drivers side door will not open from the outside

check your outside door handle to see if it is broken if not adjust the rod to the handle, they are adjustable, make the rod longer,to do this unhook the rod from the door handle and screw the adjuster counter clockwise one turn and try it, if still wont work give it another turn, 2 turns should fix it.
