have you tried pulling the seat UP from the rear ,wear it meets the back part of seat , if the seat is secured at the front into the carpet and so the car bodywork it is usually with a bolt , or a tag that will just pull forwards, towards the front of the car hope this helps
You should be able to access the ful pump thru the back flor of the montero. Start by removing the trim piece at the back of the Montero, this is the piece that holds the carpet down atthe back of the truck. Fold the back seat forward, now carefully pull up on the carpet starting from the back. Just before the rear axel you will see an access plate with, I believe, six bolts holding it down, remove and "bingo", you will see the access for the fuel pump and sending unit.
under the base of the back seat there are 2 storage compartments doors, one on either side, if you look in the footwell of the 2nd row seats you should see the small handle's, the carpet does cover them, but has been cut out around doors.
From factory there is a bottle jack in one of them, cant remember which side,
you have to remove the rear seats and roll back the carpet. if it is a seven seater you have to take out some ac ducts. then there are two access ports on each side of the floor. they are usually black and have four nuts holding them down you remove those and then you have access to the pump. you need some volvo special tools to remove it.
volvo has recall 220 going right now and your fuel pump maybe covered under it. i would definitely talk to the dealership about it. because that would be no out of pocket cost to you
the only way i know of doing this is to use the one you already have as a template and cut it out using one peice and make sure you leave enough overlap to trim it in the car and do the same with the foam underlay.
please leave feedback.
cheers
