Air conditioner turns on when car starts.

Everytime I start my 2005 Grand Prix GT, the air conditioner turns on no matter what I do. How can I solve this problem?

Check the defrost setting. If you have the knob set for windshield defrost, it will start the AC. Move it to floor or dash output. If that doesn't shut the AC off, unplug the compressor.

If only the AC indicator light is on but you are still getting warm air from the vents, this is not an issue.  Most newer cars run the AC compressor nearly all the time to prevent moisture accumulation inside the car.  Without the compressor running, your windows may steam up and hinder your visibility.
