According to allpar.com, the 1988-2003 3.9 liter LA series engine had a bore of 3.91" and a stroke of 3.31". I was surprised to discover that the stroke on the 3.9 liter V-6, 273 V-8, 318 V-8, and 340 V-8 all had the same stroke, which leads me to believe the 273, 318, and 340 shared the same block casting, and possibly the same crankshaft.

WHY DOES MY ISUZU 4HL1 ENGINE HAVE A HARD START ALWAYS?


no car stated, huge NPR truck no less.
no year stated
so no free book information on that engine,.
big diesel. 4HL1, no dash letter?
compression at spec.?
glow plugs work.,
filters clean. water in fuel,
does test fuel (spray'd) help? ???
injection problems
lack of startup air.(filter)

Timing chain broke on Rocam engine will it bend my valves


If the engine has a bore and stroke that are equal to each other is a square engine. An engine with a smaller bore than the engines stroke is undersquare. Engines with a larger bore then stroke are oversquare. If your engine is square the valves will be ok.

95 LHS- 3,518 cc 3.5 liters 6 V front longitudinal engine with 96 mm bore, 81 mm stroke, 10.5 compression ratio, overhead cam and four valves per cylinder
95 Concorde - 3,301 cc 3.3 liters 6 V front longitudinal engine with 93 mm bore, 81 mm stroke, 8.9 compression ratio, overhead valve and two valves per cylinder

What do you mean by "center bore"
Bore X stroke on the old Clubman 1275cc (Engine codes 12A and 12 H) is 70.61mm X 81.28mm

Are all 1994 c2500 series pickups a 5.7 motor?


No. The factory installed V-6's and 5.7 and 7.4 engines. In 16 years anyone could have put any Chevrolet V-8 engine in it. If you need to know exactly what engine it is there are references that identify them by engine serial number. The serial number is on the right upper face of the block just in front of the head. You can also identify any of them by pulling a head and measuring the bore and stroke. One formula for displacement is: (Bore divided by 2 x bore divided by 2 )x 3.1416 x stroke x 8 = Displacement.

Torque converter circuit stuck in open. what are possible diagnoses


TCC stuck open in a 4T60E can be either the TCC solenoid gone bad,or the actual TCC valve and bore in the valvebody is worn out.I rebuild transmissions for a living,and i have a reamer for the TCC bore that oversizes the bore,and then install an aftermarket oversized valve to restore hydraulic integrity.What happens is,the valve is PWM (pulse width modulated) which means it basically vibrates in the bore,and strokes many many times per second.Well,all this pulsing wears out the bore,so it must be oversized.But when the bore becomes worn out,sometimes the valve will literally get stuck and won't move.
