You did not mention model or miles. Off hand sounds like fluid. Check level and condition of fluid. If many miles maybe needing to change filter and drain and replace fluid. Hope this helps, good luck and have a good day.

SOURCE: 2004 acura Tl cruise control wont engage

This is a problem you will to take to a shop, If you are mechanically inclined I can help you, but if not I would not mess with it, it could be the button or it could be the controller and could even just be a fuse, check the fuse and if you don't find the fuse blown then let me know if you have a volt meter and what to test this yourself. You are going to be working around the air bag too and if you probe the wrong wire while testing you could break your arm or leg by deploying the air bag by accident. Or your neck.

How do I fix my cruise control

This may seem odd but try it. Look at the neck of your brake pedal. Towards the top you will see the brake light switch. Usually right next to it with a similar mechanism is the cruise control cut off switch. Also controlled by the motion of the brake pedal. There should be some sort of plastic bumper between the switch and the brake pedal arm. See if it is worn, cracked or missing. Replace & readjust if it is damaged. It's a dealer item at the parts counter. If they keep them on hand in stock then you know it's a common problem. This may fix your problem.

98 forester awd rear wheels not engaging runs fine other wise drive shafts, axles all in good shape no noises in drive train. no codes,no check engine light on

Just a thought, Check under bonnett on passenger side is a fuse that when installed dis-engages the rear drive. Remove the fuse to engage the rear drive. Sometimes people see the open fuse holder and fill the slot thinking it is missing. Truth is it is only for short towing. Good luck and have a great day.

Cruise Control Issue

The most common solution is to replace the brake light switch . The switch has 3 sets of contacts one set is for the cruise control. If the cruise control part is at fault the cruise control will not engage. The switch typically costs from 10 to 15 dollars.
