You need to test for spark at the spark plugs with a spark tester that can be purchased at any auto store. Then if you have spark, spray ether into the air intake to see if will start...if that doesn't work. Let us know where you have spark or not and did the ether make an attempt to start.

Try first to replace the fuel filter. Then if that don't work, have the sensors checked by an auto technician with a diagnostic tool that interfaces with the cars computer. Most places will do this for free.

1992 buick century(26,500 original miles)engine shuts down but starts up, no problem Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

As this vehicle is obviously driven around 1,500 miles per year, you may have moisture in the tank from it sitting for long periods of time with a half empty tank of fuel. Start by changing the fuel filter. Purchase a can of Seafoam Motor Tune and pour 1 can in a full tank of fuel. This is an excellent fuel stabilizer, moisture remover, and fuel system cleaner. After one tank of fuel if you see no improvement then look for another problem.

Check for the number 1228253 on the ecm. If it's on there replace it as they will cause a cutting off problem. You may trying a new crank sensor too.
