One of your door jamb switches probably needs adjustment because it is not coming into contact with the door; usually the driver's door as that one gets used most often. these switches can be usually adjusted to be longer so it contacts the door again.interior lights won't shut off - 3_8_2013_5_20_44_pm.png

SOURCE: Interior lights won't come on

There should be a switch on the overhead light that you can switch from off to door to on. If in the off position it overrides the lights. In the door setting they will come on when the doors are open. The on position will stay on all of the time.

SOURCE: interior lights won't go off after shut down

Hello
There are switches in the door, check to be sure the wire didn't get broken otherwise it's most likely a bad switch there.
Best regards,
Ck

SOURCE: drivers-side rear door won't engage-interior bell chimes constantly

Make sure the rear cargo lid is shut. Then if it still appears to be the door, then remove the jam switch in the door sill. The switches usually separate the wires when the door closes. You do not want to lose the wiring inside the doorjam and you do not want to leave a hole open either.
Tie a string on the wiring and/or tape the wiring to the doorjam until you can get a new switch. Tape the wire ends to prevet shorting.

SOURCE: interior roof lights won't go off

This can be caused by a door or trunk being ajar, be sure you shut all doors firmly, if there is still no resolve check by shutting all doors then open one up and press the button (if any) on the inside of the door jam and see if it is broken or the light goes off.

My interior lughts won't go out when the doors are closed after the van is shut off

Could be the front electronic module. The module has a timer that holds the lights on for about 60 seconds after you exit the van.

My lights on my 1996 caravan won't shut off until the timer shuts them off and they turn on when any door is opened

You are talking about interior lights, right ?
As long as the on-time is under a minute or two, its normal.
The lights are supposed to go off as soon as you start the van tho.

1998 Ford Windstar Minivan: 1. I sometimes get an extended crank when trying to start engine after I've made a short trip. 2. My interior lights won't go out after I turn the engine off, so I...

YOU MAY HAVE A BAD DOOR AJAR SWITCH. HOWEVER, YO HAVE A TIMER THAT SHUTS OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AFTER 300 MINUTES. IT'S CALLED A BATTERY SAVER FEATURE. TEST IT OUT.

THE EXTENDED CRANK MAY BE A CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK, ALLOWING PRESSURE TO DROP WHEN YOU TURN THE ENGINE OFF.
OR A BAD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR ON THE ENGIEN FUEL RAIL.

TRY THIS TEST, TURN KEY TO "ON" POSITION, WAIT 5 SECONDS, SHUT OFF KEY FOR 30 SECONDS. TURN KEY ON, WAIT 5 SECONDS, THEN START ENGINE. IF IT STARTS RIGHT UP, YOU ARE LOSING FUEL PRESSURE WITH ENGINE OFF.

THIS BUILDS UP PRESSURE IF IT DROPPED DURING SHUT DOWN.
REPORT TEST RESULTS.

PLEAE RATE, THANKS
