I have never heard of anyone doing that and It working. It doesn't sound like a very safe Idea to me though. I would recommend just going to the local repair shop.

NO,But the transmission fluid will work well in the transmission and the torch can be used for plumbing connections.

It can how ever be repaired with a new windshield being installed.

Get a propane torch and heat up the bolt. It's going to burn paint, but sometimes this is all that will work to extract nuts and bolts. Keep that heat away from the windshield. It could crack it. Especially being cold. You may have to heat the bolt several times to get it out.

Windshield replacement

Some companies will repair a large crack such as your if it does not reach from one edge of the windshield over to another.I would recommend replacement. Most of the time you can see the crack slightly still after the repair and delamination is a possibility later on.check with your insurance company and you may be able to pay a $50 deductible to have it replaced.

Windshield crack

If your crack is shorter than a $1 bill, it can be repaired, I recommend Safelite auto glass. If it is greater than that, it will need to be replaced. If replacement is needed, there are many coupons that will cover the deductable upto $100 (I think)....check in the phone book.

Windshield crack repair

The windshield is actually a piece of safety equipment designed to hold you inside the car in a horrific accident. Once the windshield has a crack, the integrity of the safety equipment is compromised and should be replaced. Repairing it is not suitable. If your seat belt was ripped in half, would you feel comfortable sewing it back together? I hope not.

It should be replaced. The windshield actually will provide protection in a roll over crash, keeping the roof from caving in and crushing occupants. So you want it to be crack free for the strength to be there to protect you. The only repairs that can be made are much smaller than what you describe, and in hot and cold weather the glass will continue to expand and contract, and crack further.

Repairing cracked front windshield

Hi there!

Yes there is.

Specialist firms deal with windscreen repair, and may be covered by your insurance policy.

The method for chips involves creating a vacuum over the damage, then injecting clear resin. This sets and is then polished off flat again.

For cracks in one layer, the end of the crack is hollow ground, and a disc of glass is bonded in, then the crack is either ground out and filled, or just filled as a chip would be.

Ask several windscreen repair companies for a quote before working.
If the crack is severe, it may not be possible due to weakening of a major structure. Also if water has entered the crack, then damage of the mid layer cannot be repaired, and will remain foggy or white.
