Re: lights that show mileage and what gear car is in goes...
There is a short in the instrument panel. You will have to replace the entire panel or send it off for repairs. I just replaced mine with a used one from my local auto salvage yard. I have a 2002 Century and the instrument panel was from a 2001 Century. There were 2 types of instrument panels made, one from the USA and one from Canada. If your speedometer has kilometers on it as well as MPH, then it is the Canadian version. Mine cost $65 to replace. I was quoted almost $200 to send it off for repair. I have had several problems with my car, so if you have any questions, I might be able to help. My email is email@example.com.

Or they mite of changed the clust or odometer with an used odometer with out setting the odometer to show ur cars milage so if they did there suppose to put the ariganal miles on the driver door jam so in other words if its a used odometer it's reading the milage where ever the milage left off of the car that it came off of instead of urs
There is a you tube video On how to fix this. The man in it shows you exactly where the problem is and how to fix it ,check it out. It looks difficult to jet the cluster out but the fix is easy just need a soldering gun
The used odometer mileage will be constant...you can have it re-calibrated at a local work shop if you want it to be accurate...if you do not re-do the replacement, you will need to declare at time of sale..."mileage is not accurate"...Hope this helps.
on many buicks and impalas there is a problem with the wire resistors falling off the circuit board! You will see four resistors upper right if any of these has fallen off they need to be replaced, Good news is you can replace them yourself ! go to your electronic supply store and buy 151 surface resistors and replace them ! These are 50 ohm and don't get hot and fall off. use a 15 watt soldering iorn. Don't want it to hot! Repace all 4 and wala it should lifgt back up! Douglas Noack texasinstrumentcluster.com
in latin "caveat emptor" or let the buyer beware.there is no way of knowing what the mileage is but if its not burning oil/runs sweet, no problem.does your auction room have a get out clause re are goods as seen or what???(if sold "as is" with no warranty then you are stuck if its duff) sorry but in the uk, we have laws to protect us ,
reset: turn ignition on...push odometer button till it displays mileage on car...not trip milage but actual mileage. Turn car off. Open driver's door, press and hold odometer button....turn ignition to on....hold odometer button for 10 seconds....odometer display will show -----,----,---,--,-,0000000....maintenance lights are reset...lights will come on every 7500 miles to remind you to change oil and check fluids etec....
It is actually impossible to change the mileage on that odometer. The ONLY way to insert a new mileage number is to completly replace the insturment cluster, and reprogram the mileage with the GM scan tool. Once the car has even .1 miles on it, you can not change the clusters mileage.
