Question about 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2WD
I have a 2005 chev silverado, 1500 and the automatic transmission won't shift into high gear, it just revs up when it gets to that point. Does this mean my transmission is done or is there a simple repair for it?
Could be just a shift solinoid ,a tranny shop can scan it and replace it.

Probably a bad ignition switch not sending power to the IGN 0 fuse which provides power to every solenoid in the transmission.

There is an overdrive fuse in the fuse compartment on the drivers side door panel, check and see if its blown, if it is there was some problems with the overdrive shift wire touches the bottom of the tranny pan, and can cause the fuse to blow out.

Try replacing the transmission filter and the trannie fluid. Mine would only go in reverse, and now it drives pretty well. This year has a screw on filter. Hope this helps

i had the same problem, and it turned out the coil pack was moulding inside wich stopped the spark all together, i ended up changing my coil pack and putting on new wires because the ends connected to the coil were very corroded and that cures the not running part just fine
