I have a gt250r, and usually put in the ignition key into the rear seat lock, jiggle it around and then frees up allowing the key to turn clockwise unlocking the rear seat. I then attach my helmet to the hook and lock it up again. when i returned from shopping, i spend 3 hours trying to jiggle the key to unlock the rear seat, but it would not budge, so had to give up and leave my bike at the mall. is there any tricks or ways i can get this rear seat off and thus helment out??

Doing roadside assistance I have ran into this problem several times and if you look in your owners manual it will tell you how to reset it. Some of the cars you have to wait up to 10 min. with the key in the ignition and try again. The light will go out. READ carefully our owners manual.
Hope this helped....Kevin

try pulling your negative terminal lose from the battery for a few minutes and allow the system to zero out then try it if tht don't work then visit your local honda dealership

With the key in the ignition, tap on the key with something heavy like a pair of pliers, screwdriver etc. It will cause the pin inside the mechanism to drop, and the iginition will turn. Happened to me today, worked like a charm.
