My truck crainkrd and ran fine but when i tried to pull off from a light it was at complete loss of power so i parked it and it died.then i started it again and it ran for a minute but then died again. now it will crank but wont start again. its an 89 ford f-150 v-8 302. can anyone help

I wouldn't think catalytic converter, without it giving some indication that it was going bad, but without testing it is hard to say.
When it cranks and won't start, check for battery voltage to the coil on the dark green wire, with key ON. If you have power at the coil, it might be a bad coil. If no power to the coil, it could be a Crank Position Sensor or the Cam Position Sensor inside the distributor. If one of those is bad, it can stop the computer from sending power to the coil. Charge battery? How cold/ hot was it when parked? could have water i oil that could seaze pistons, put a little oil down spark plug holes and leave 4 couple days. Try cranking by hand with bar and socket on main pulley. Have rodents eaten your wiring? Have seen this and it wasnt preety or cheap.
