Question about 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser
The front wheel bearing are located in the wheel hubs. You will have to take the hubs to a shop to have them pressed out and the new ones pressed back in. I would not recommend doing this yourself unless you have the proper tools and know what you are doing.

there's always caution to take heed of when performing maintenance. first you need to check if the bearing the pressed on cold or warm. to pull them off you'll need a special tool. if you've never done it, have a dealer do it.

Removal & Installation
CAUTION The strut assembly-to-steering knuckle attaching bolts are serrated and must not be turned during removal. Hold the bolts stationary in the steering knuckles while removing the nuts, then tap the bolts out using a pin punch.
NOTE Use caution when separating the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle, so the ball joint seal does not get cut.
NOTE Do not allow the driveshaft to hang by the inner C/V joint; it must be supported to keep the joint from separating during this operation.
NOTE The cartridge type front wheel bearing used on this vehicle is not transferable to the replacement steering knuckle. If the replacement steering knuckle does not come with a wheel bearing, a new bearing must be installed in the steering knuckle. Installation of the new wheel bearing and hub must be done before installing the steering knuckle on the vehicle.

the wheel bearing is pressed into the knuckle and will require a machine shop service to press it in and out.
You will need to remove the knuckle from the vehicle.
-Remove the caliper from the knuckle.
-Remove the rotor.
-Disconnect the ABS harness if equipped
-Remove the bolt that holds the lower ball joint to the knuckle and separate them.
-Remove the outer tie rod from the knuckle.
-Remove the axle nut and tap the drive axle out of the hub.
-Remove the two strut mounting bolts from the knuckle
-Remove the knuckle from the vehicle.
A machine shop or an automotive service facility should be able to press the old bearing out and press in the new bearing for you. Call around for pricing and service availability.
