Question about 1993 Dodge Daytona

Coolant is leaking from around the tube on the back of the engine. The tube which the bottom rad hose and the heater hose is connected to, is leaking. My question is how is this tube connected to the engine? and how would you repair this problem.

If its the 3.o v6 the tube is underneath the lower intake manifold to the water pump and then into the engine

My car is leaking coolant into spots what do you think it could be


water pumps start to leak when they are failing. Look for coolant leaking from a small home on bottom of pump. Could also be bad rad hoses, bad heater hoses, leaks around hoses and rad or hose and thermostat housing. And in the brutally cold weather worse case scenario could be corroded or blown frost plugs. Regardless, get it checked out and fixed, don't just drive it and hope it stops, it won't.

Flush with fluid surpenion system why remove heating hose


surpenion system.? wow no year stated !!

what are you doing ,just a flush? of engine coolant

my guess you are reading the steps. and wonder why we do it fully

there are 2 flush ways. 1 is poor way and way 2 is ASE.

i will not mention shop way with the $10,000 machine.

1: poor way, open drain bottom rad, run water from rad cap

until drain runs clear. (ok on a 2 year old car. sure)

2 pro way.

he back flushs all cooling system parts and makes sure all flow good.

1: RAD (end to end)

2: HEATER CORE.

3: isc AND iac VALVES AND HOSES

4: THE BYpass hoses are flowing good.

other? sure. depends on engine option (size)



on my cars , IR pyro gun the rad tubes as a last check. (hot)

to be sure all tubes are working... ask.... a $15 tool , like no other.

Coolant leaked out; how do i repair?


TO FIX COOLANT LEAK.YOU HAVE TO LOCATE IT.BEST TIME FIND COOLANT LEAK WAIT UNTIL MORNING.ADD COOLANT UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL IN RADIATOR CORRECT. START THE ENGINE LET IDLE UNTIL START GETTING HOT.THEN TURN OFF ENGINE.COOLANT PRESSURE WILL PUSH COOLANT OUT WHERE LEAKS ARE.CHECK TOP RADIATOR HOSE AND BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE.CHECK AROUND RADIATOR LOOK DOWN BELOW COOLANT FAN AREA BEHIND RADIATOR.LOOK FOR LEAKS AT RADIATOR CORES AND SIDE CONTAINERS.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND WATER PUMP GASKET OR WEEP HOLE.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND HEATER HOSES AND HEATER CORE.CHECK ENGINE CRANKCASE FOR COOLANT LEAKS.

I have a 98 lincoln town car executive and I need to know how you change the thermostat


1. drain coolant
2. remove engine cover
3. remove the 2 bolts from water hose connection (upper rad hose connecting to)
4. remove o-ring and thermostat
5. repeat in reverse order

Have a 2001 dakota sport 6 cyl. and have coolant dripping from bottom of water pump.found loose bolt on bottom and tightened it.drove around at first no leak,then heater blowin cold air,then shut off...


Gasket probably will not seal now, and if your going to have to remove water pump to replace it, you might as well put a new pump on as well. The reason for heater cutting in and out, is probably just due to low coolant, and air got into system. When cool, remove rad cap,start engine, and turn heater on while letting it get up to operating temperature, and top up rad as needed, until you see increased flow in rad indicating thermostat has opened and coolant is circulating. Watch for that a couple of times, then put rad cap back on, and top up return bottle to proper level as well. That should get your heat back.

Need diagram where bottom radiater hose attaches to engine where it appears to be leaking


This is how I like to do it. Make sure the car is parked with the front end at an upward angle. Drain the coolant from the petcock at the bottom of the radiator. Remove the upper and lower hoses at the radiator. Remove the thermostat housing, and the heater core hoses at the fire wall. Flush out the radiator by pouring fresh water into the overflow, and the hole where the thermostat was. Flush the heater core as best you can by pouring fresh water into the heater core hose connections.
Let all the water drain out, then button everything back up and replace the thermostat with a new one. Refill the rad and engine by filling the coolant reservoir with a mix of 50% water and 50% antifreeze, or buy the premixed stuff from the auto parts store. (Buy 4 jugs of premix or 2 of straight antifreeze)
Run the engine until it reaches operating temperature and the upper rad hose gets hot. Rev the engine a little to help get the air out of the cooling system. When the thermostat opens, the coolant level will drop in the reservoir, so top it up and replace the cap.
Check for leaks, and check the coolant level for the next few days, and check for leaks.
Dispose of the old coolant responsibly

Engine Coolant Leak


That sounds like the heater bypass tube. On the end of the tube going into the water pump is an o-ring. Pull out the tube, clean it real good, put a new o-ring on it. Clean the hole well that it goes in. Then I will put a slight amount of silicone around the o-ring. That helps it go back together and fills any imperfections.

Low heat running & no heat at idol


I'm betting your heater core is getting plugged up. With vehicle cooled off, drain rad, and remove heater hoses going into firewall at back of engine area. Cut & connect a garden hose of proper size to one of the copper tubes coming out of the firewall. Run water through it for a while to clear it out, now connect it to other tube & do the same. Re-attach hoses, fill rad with proper coolant mix and start engine with heater (not defrost) on while you do it. Keep topping up rad as coolant goes down. Let it run for a while, and rev the engine a little every once in a while and hold it there for 20-30 seconds just to speed up the air bleed and circulation process. Leave the cap off until it reaches normal operating temperature & wait for rad fan to come on, then off 2 to 3 times to make sure all air is out of the system. Put rad cap back on & top up coolant return bottle to proper level, and check that bottle for a couple of days just in case level goes down a bit after. If you have the time when heater hoses are off, I recommend plugging one of the tubes, (bottom one) and using the hose for flushing attached to other tube, and a funnel, and filling the core with "CLR" and letting it sit in there overnight to clean out calcium build up better inside the heater core. Then drain it, flush it & re-connect next day, but that's up to you. Good Luck, let us know how it goes.

Coolant leaks can occur anywhere in the cooling system. Nine out of ten times, coolant leaks are easy to find because the coolant can be seen dripping, spraying, seeping or bubbling from the leaky component. So open the hood and visually inspect the engine and cooling system for any sign of liquid leaking from the engine, radiator or hoses. The color of the coolant may be green, orange or yellow depending on the type of antifreeze in the system. The most common places where coolant may be leaking are:Water pump. A bead shaft seal will allow coolant to dribble out of the vent hole just under the water pump pulley shaft. If the water pump is a two-piece unit with a backing plate, the gasket between the housing and back cover may be leaking. The gasket or o-ring that seals the pump to the engine front cover on cover-mounted water pumps can also leak coolant. Look for stains, discoloration or liquid coolant on the outside of the water pump or engine.Radiator. Radiators can develop leaks around upper or loser hose connections as a result of vibration. The seams where the core is mated to the end tanks is another place where leaks frequently develop, as is the area where the cooling tubes in the core are connected or soldered to the core headers. The core itself is also vulnerable to stone damage. But a major factor in many radiator leaks is internal corrosion that eats away from the inside out. That's why regular coolant flushes and replacing the antifreeze is so important.
oses. Cracks, pinholes or splits in a radiator hose or heater hose will leak coolant. A hose leak will usually send a stream of hot coolant spraying out of the hose. A corroded hose connection or a loose or damaged hose clamp may also allow coolant to leak from the end of a hose. Sometimes the leak may only occur once the hose gets hot and the pinhole or crack opens up. Freeze plugs (casting plugs or expansion plugs in the sides of the engine block and/or cylinder head). The flat steel plugs corroded from the inside out, and eventually eat through allowing coolant to leak from the engine. The plugs may be hard to see because they are behind the exhaust manifold, engine mount or other engine accessories. On V6 and V8 blocks, the plugs are most easily inspected from underneath the vehicle.
Heater Core. The heater core is located inside the heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) unit under the dash. It is out of sight so you can�t see a leak directly. But if the heater core is leaking (or a hose connection to the heater core is leaking), coolant will be seeping out of the bottom of the HVAC unit and dripping on the carpet. Look for stains or wet spots on the bottom of the plastic HVAC case, or on the passenger side floor.
Intake Manifold gasket. The gasket that seals the intake manifold to the cylinder heads may leak and allow coolant to enter the intake port, crankcase or dribble down the outside of the engine. Some engines such as General Motors 3.1L and 3.4L V6 engines as well as 4.3L, 5.0L and 5.7L V8s are notorious for leaky intake manifold gaskets. The intake manifold gaskets on these engines are plastic and often fail at 30,000 to 80,000 miles. Other troublesome applications include the intake manifold gaskets on Buick 3800 V6 and Ford 4.0L V6 engines.
INTERNAL COOLANT LEAKS
There are the worst kind of coolant leaks for two reasons. One is that they are impossible to see because they are hidden inside the engine. The other is that internal coolant leaks can be very expensive to repair.

Replacing the radiator system for nissan altima 1998


Drain coolant from the cooling system. White plastic drain plug in bottom of radiator.

take off bottom rad. hose and top rad hose.

All wrenches and sockets are either 10 or 12 mm. Remove air shroud from around radiator and fan.
Sometimes its easier to remove fan too.

If its an automatic, remove 2 rubber hoses at bottom of rad.

remove 4 bolts top and bottom that hold rad. in place.

reverse order of parts. Fill with coolant and check for leaks.

That is the basics of it.
