Question about 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage

Open Question

Headlight warning my 1st battery died because i forgot to switch my headlights off on a semi-dark rainy day. the display light on my car has a white background so it's hard to see if you've switched the light off unless you double check. i was curious why this 99 mirage had no warning/alarm whatsoever if these things happen. i now double check my lights before going out of the car but a few days ago, i heard a warning sound the moment i switched the engine off with the headlights still turned on. i thought i was hearing wrong when i did it the next time around failing to hear anything, but lately the alarm comes and goes when i purposely switch on the lights while engine is off. it probably has something to do with the wiring. is it connected to the door ajar warning(which i don't think my car has) or is ithe faulty wiring somewhere else?

First you need to check all your fuses with a test light. The 12 volt light switch wire for the ilumimation of your gauges is just a park light feed, the best way to find it is using test light,it can be found in radio plug or park light switch or fuse board.Your check engine light is not so easy ,first I would check the bulb in dash, then you need to make sure of you lose wire tap connections the check engine light needs a feed to it to come on you need to check your aftermarket ecu wiring diagram to see where this is or get hold of a factory one to find it to see if you can manual trip it with test light.

What color is the ground wire for the headlights on a 2003 Ford Taurus there is no black wire

After 2000 the headlight wiring was changed on most models.
The new system grounded the lights thru the dimmer switch and headlight switch instead of the switches providing power as in years past.
So you have a red/blk for low beam and lite green/blk for high beam which goes to the dimmer and then to the headlight switch.
Dark blue/white is power from one fuse and dark green/orange is the other side power. One fuse for each side.

Initial indicator is the battery light comes on at the dash. When mine went, I got about 2 days warning (with me resetting the computer every time I started the car) Then, driving in the dark, everything shut down (except headlights) wouldn't accellerate, or manual shift at all while driving at all.

My 2000 Toyota Corolla headlights will not turn on during the night, and stay on during the day

Your Corolla has daytime running lights (DRLs). A photocell determines whether it is day or night. Your DRLs turn on automatically in daytime without you operating the light control ("headlight") switch. Your DRLs are actually your headlights on low beam. At night, the photocell senses it is dark and disables the DRLs. When you set the light control ("headlight") switch to HEAD, the head relay closes and the headlights should turn on. Since they don't, I suggest opening the engine room junction block and checking the 40A MAIN fuse and the 10A LEFT HEAD (UPPER) and RIGHT HEAD (UPPER) fuses. In engine room relay block 5, check the 10A LH-LWR HEAD and RH-LWR HEAD fuses. Replace any blown fuses and the headlights should be working normally again

Headlights don't work why?

Test the headlight switch as follows.
  • Move your car to a dark area, such as waiting until night or moving to a dark garage, to test your headlight switch.
  • 2Turn on your car, so you can see your dashboard lights. Note whether some of your dashboard lights fail to illuminate.

    • 3
  • Turn on your car's headlights. Note whether your car's headlights illuminate.
  • 4Press the high beam lever to activate your high beams. Note whether your high beams activate.
  • 5Put your car in "Park." Move to the back of the car. Note whether your parking lights are illuminated.
  • 6View any remaining driving lights, such as lights above the license plate. Note whether these lights come on.
If more than one set of lights does not activate when you turn on the lights, you may need to replace your headlight switch. If only one set of lights does not turn on, try replacing the lightbulbs in that set and then retesting your car. If the lights still do not illuminate, you may need to replace your headlight switch.

Yes, There is a sensor or relay for this condition.
I would check the owners manual for proper settings on the headlight switch.
The head light switch settings are correct. I would take the vehicle to a repair shop to check out the sensor .

Head Lights go dim, instrument panel goes dim when I turn on my Headlights

Does it go completely black or just dim? Most displays dim when you turn the lights on to make the display darker so its not too bright. GPS and other displays do this. Do you have any problems with any other of the car's electronics?
