My Legacy has the check engine light come on every so often, usually when it's climbing up a hill. Generic fuel has seemed to be a contributor to the problem so I switched back to filling up with the better kind of fuel with the proper additives. My dad is a mechanic and it when he hooks up the computer to it the result is that it is always a cylinder 3 misfire. We've replaced the coil, the spark plugs, and the timing belt. We've even put Sea Foam into the fuel to clean out the fuel injector. It seems to work for a while then eventually the check engine light comes on again. The strange thing about it is that it's not persistent. Sometimes the check engine light comes on for a bit, then it goes off, and sometimes it stays on until my dad can go in there and temperarily fix it. He doesn't understand why it keeps doing that. I'm not good at changing my oil and regularly as I should so maybe that's the problem too. Any suggestions?

When the car is stationary with the miss fire try disconecting the coil packs 1 at a time and see wot 1 does not make a difference then try replacing that spark plug andif that dont make a differencethen replace the coil

How come my wagon won't start but only sometimes?

Sounds like weak connection somewhere,I would start by one at a time, clean by scraping the prongs of each fuse. If this does not resolve your issue go by one of the parts houses that provide free electrical and charging system checks

I do believe that from 95 to 99 are direct fit replacement seats. The seats may vary in options but should bolt right in. Good luck and have a great day.

2000 Subaru Outback Wagon (100K miles) with P0420 Code

I do not know for sure if this is the problem you are having, But, I have noticed that from 95 up to 2002 I have seen a lot of PO420 codes that have been just the sensor. I do not know if it was a weak sensor or just that program telling it that it is below threshold. I did notice that if the vehicles are run for a long trip at highway speed it goes out. I wish you luck and have a great day.

95 Subaru legacy wagon manual transmission fluid

The dipstick has a black plastic handle in the shape of ring of about 1 inch in diameter. It is located on the left side of the engine (looking from front) behind the spark plugs. Best visible from the passenger side fender location (start looking from the left part of the transmission , the black handle clearly stands out on the white metal).

Do you have to take the gas tank out to replace the fuel pump on 95 subaru lagacy wagon 4x4

No. On the sedan, remove the rear seat and carpet, there will be an oval shaped plate, remove that and fuel pump is right there.
On the wagon, remove the carpet, same oval shaped plate.

95 Legacy Ls Wagon all-wheel drive does not work.

Check the awd fuse first, if this is ok then it is likely to be in the transmission the awd section is seperate to the rest of the trans, it has its own solonoid pack which can be a problem. Take to a trans specialist for an accurate diagnosis if the fuse is ok. If the fuse is missing come back to me for further info
