SOURCE: need a wiring diagram for a 1998 chevrolet

Check the autozone.com website and register the car. It doesn't cost anything and will give you access to an online repair manual for the car. The wiring diagrams should be available there. Hope this helped and best wishes.

How to remove an ignition switch for replace/repair on an 86 Chevrolet K10 pickup

the ignition switch is screwed to the top of the steering column under the dash. it' operated by a rod connected to the lock cylinder. ignition switch is easily changed, however the lock cylinder requires the removal of the steering wheel and turn signal switch. steering wheel requires a puller to remove. turn signal is secured with 3 phillips screws. lock cylinder is retained by a phillips screw also. this screw has abnormal threads, only one that looks like that. this truck uses a saginaw steering column, same as dodge in these years.

Car won't start after putting in a new steering column

Did you make sure that the ignition switch is plugged in properly? It is mounted to the top of the column under the dash back by the firewall. If it is plugged in properly you might switch it out with the one on the column that was removed.

I am trying to change the ignition switch in my 91 chevrolet truck and i cant get the old switch out.

f
The ignition switch is usually mounted to the steering column and is operated by a linkage rod.
NOTE On column-mounted ignition switches, don't confuse the switch with the lock cylinder and keys. The ignition switch is not normally visible. On some vehicles, the steering column support has to be removed and the column lowered to find the ignition switch. On others, the switch is accessible under the dash.

The ignition switch is operated by the key switch. Courtesy of Ford Motor Company. To replace the switch:
  • Remove the ignition switch wiring harness.
  • Unbolt it from its position.
  • Bolt the new switch into position.
  • Attach the witing harness.

Good luck (remember rated this help)
